Needsbalance, but above all else, needs it's own identity[edit]

Oh, this class is a mess, but to not waste any time, here are THE problems with this one:

  • Proficiency in two common saves should not happen, it could work if it is offset by something. Here, not.
  • Nichirin blades - this should be avoided, as nothing prevents just outfitting your entire party with weapons, which double damage against certain types of enemies. This is ridicolous in and out of itself, and strap that on, dunno, paladin? Fiends are gonna evaporate from encounters. What is funny - this is not a magic weapon, so it is both overly broken on low levels, and literally useless on higher levels.
  • Breathing - Nothing says how many times can you use this feature, while explicitly stating you regain expended uses after long rest?
  • Combat Stance- This is a disaster, hands down. Picking ability score you use for attacks is just bad. Why not take the one with constitution and become truly single ability score dependant? Why one or two expertise in skills? Increasing hit points as a class feature? This is on par with barbarian most of the time, one giving you even more health! And this is just first level. Why is this class so titanically outperforming anything else in existence at 1st level? Then the second level features are... saddening. Those are copy pastes of fighting styles and ranger's features, with some more copied from from other classes. And then more, and then some more. Not even one word of fluff was changed. No one sohuld make a class with big features of other's classes or subclasses features stolen, because this rips out the feeling of importance from player if someone else can do what you can do, all the while being overloaded with features.
  • Action Surge - This is fighter's class primary ability, and as any primary ability of every class, it should not be copied. Ever. Why? Because you invalidate anyone playing fighter, or any class, by having it's features and being better, having more free stuff or other features. Fighter gets action surge at 2nd level, and only that. Here, you gain it IN ADDITION to other things. This should never be done. But this class is glorified fighter, so this will be a recurring thing.
  • Breathing Style- not finished, there is only one subclass here, if stances are not some form of subclass.
  • Total Concentration Breathing - first, class should not get features when it gets ability score improvement. Second, this is a disaster, again. This feature single-handedly wrecks bounded accuracy. Gaining +3, then even more to every attack is not balanced, that is why this does not exist in 5e. Only way you could increase your +to hit is by external sources, like magic items or magical buffs, not something so dramatic. And increase to damage is a no go too, this is not 3.5e, age of static modifiers to everything under the sun is over.
  • Ability Score Improvement-As much as fighter gets. I can see a pattern here.
  • Extra Attack-As much as fighter gets. I can see a pattern here.
  • Improved Breathing - not much problems here, EXCEPT this should not be paired with 5th level feature, as impactful as second attack.
  • Total Concentration Breathing: Constant - this could be an interesting feature to push yourself in harder fight, but there is much problems with Breathing Style Techniques as it is, and this can only be activated when you start breathing(feature, not common sense)
  • Silent Chase - there exist no such thing in dnd 5e as a free action, making this feature broken and literally unusable at all.
  • Path to the 5th Rank - I do believe what was the intention here, but this is broken beyond. You can ASSURE passing this save at 13th level, interally never ending your breathing. Ever. What was the point of Total Concentration Breathing: Constant having its benefits in exchange for exhaustion, if now you can just take it, never feeling the drawbacks again.
  • Slayer Mark- Your already good movement speed starts being overwhelming with this feature, another static bonus to attacks and damage like this class does not give enough, and DR 5, which does not exist in dnd 5e, once again making this feature plain broken and unusable.
  • Transparent World-this is just laughable. Permanent advantage, paired with permanent disadvantage on attacks against you sounds like clairvoyance, which is a 9th level spell, which have limited duration. Also, this feature is literally counterproductive. Why? If every attack you ever make is with advantage, you do not ever need to worry about gaining advantage. Benefitting from advantage. This just simplifies fights to literal boredoom, why just not run forward and slash? Hardly any option is even marginally bettr than this one.

To sum up, this is not balanced. This is in places not even working. But above all else, this have NO soul. Let me explain. This class is a amalgamation of other class' features, and the only thing it have of it's own, are dull, uninteresting, not invoking any plans or tactics, static bonuses to damage and/or other things. Nothing makes you a demon slayer in here, not more than just playing fighter on amphetamine, or ranger withoust spellcasting, buton drugs. I would suggest re-writing this class from the base, this time looking at the class design guide, because almost all mistakes here could be avoided just by reading it once, focusing on breathing as a main feature, and rewriting this in more appealing to the eye way, bc formatting here is not great either. --Cezaryx (talk) 07:09, 10 June 2022 (MDT)
