What exactly is a primary combat stat? And if this stat changes at some point, do I lose this feat? PunnyDM12 (talk) 14:38, 25 December 2018 (MST)

Too strong[edit]

I think this feat is too strong at the moment,it just gives you too much for a single feat,so I will be removing the attack on reaction,as it is better than sentinel in most circumstances, and has the weakest relationship with the theme of "comboing" Vladulenta >:( (talk)

Disagreement with the claim of excessive damage[edit]

Sup, i saw the template of needsbalance, and i'm not entirely sure this feat allows for incredible amount of damage. Let me try to show it:

  • The first bullet point allows for an additional attack on critical hits. Critical hits happen for most characters only in 5% of the weapon attacks (10-15% for Champion fighter, a class that is underpowered anyway). The frequency of critical hits hardly makes this an overpowered trait, specially when you consider that you have a 35% chance on average of missing this additional attack.
  • The second bullet point allows for progressive bonus to damage on successive strikes. This means that when you start a combo, you have 65% chance of causing additional 1d6 damage, but the chances lower the more the damage increases: around 40% chance of getting to 2d6 damage (since you must hit twice to get this bonus on the third attack) and so on. The damage is also spread for multiple turns for most characters, until the 11th level or unless you are a dual wielder, which means that the damage die for your attacks is lower anyway. Also, breaking the chain cause you to become unable to use this until you complete a rest, which means that with luck, you will be able to use this like twice a day. Now, advantage on attacks may be a problem, maybe a clause stating the attacks made as part of a combo can't have advantage, but that's all.
  • Third, is not exactly about balance, but about the claim that this feat is only moar damage. I don't think this is particularly fair. For one, there are already feats on official material that are basically more damage (savage attacker, crossbow expert, arguably great weapon master), all of these feats allow for additional damage either by granting additional attacks or on specific circumstances, which is basically what this feat does.

Well, that's all, either way, if you still perceive this feat as being unbalanced or not offering more than just damage, i have no qualms in making adjustments! peace! Anastacio (talk) 07:22, 15 November 2021 (MST)

In general when balancing damage output, assume that the player or creature will hit with every attack. Having said that, I somehow missed that a rest is required to use it again. You can remove the template if you wish. I still think that some small utility benefit would improve this to be something other than just another extra damage feat (crossbow expert isn't just a bonus attack).
