Balance[edit]

The problem with the balance is that this sort of thing is easier for bone collectors than other classes. Maybe it needs to be a trait rather than a spell. Trouble is, the bone collector traits list is full. Maybe I can make one of the other traits a spell and add it to the spell list. Arquebus (talk) 17:58, 18 April 2020 (MDT)

The spell you are thinking of is the 5th level Telepathic Bond which does not exist in the PHB or Xanthar's Guide, but does seem to be part of the game in various 5e online spell lists. Arquebus (talk) 18:54, 3 May 2020 (MDT)

Balance Comparison of this spell with Telepathic Bond
  • Combat Messaging lasts 1 minute, Telepathic Bond lasts for one hour.
  • Combat Messaging has all communication go between the spell caster and others, Telepathic Bond allows all the creatures to communicate with each other.
  • Combat Messaging requires concentration and Telepathic Bond does not.
  • Combat Messaging requires intelligence of at least 6, Telepathic Bond works down to Intelligence of 3.
  • Combat Messaging requires that the spell caster have an item associated with each creature involved, Telepathic Bond does not.
  • Combat Messaging requires that all of the creatures involved be touched to start the spell, Telepathic Bond does not.
  • Combat Messaging prevents other magical communication, Telepathic Bond does not.

I don't think Combat Messaging is unbalanced at level 2. Arquebus (talk) 22:20, 3 May 2020 (MDT)
