Talk:Circle of the Sun (5e Subclass)

Hey, I have an idea of the theme this archetype, and how it would be focused around plants, and maybe healing or utility. But I can't think of a power to connect this to like the others: moon is beast shape, the land is spells, but I don't know what to use. Maybe an option to use beast shape or spell slots to deal fire and radiant damage or heal people, and assigning spell levels and beast shapes different point values? Suggestions would be helpful, thanks. -- HoneyScarab

Here go my ideas.

--At level 2 you gain the light cantrip for free.

--At level 2 you can attack enemies with a mini-sunbeam (better name is your department): Takes an action, ranged spell attack, 60 foot range, 2d6 radint on hit and Con save or blinded until next turn. NO damage or save on miss. Use a number of times equal to your Wisdom modifier (min 1) per short rest.

--At 6th level you shoot 2 mini-sunbeam beams in a single use as a single action.

--At 10th level you gain resistance to radiant damage. --At 14th level while in direct sunlight you don't expend uses of the mini-sunbeam when you use it. Also, while in direct sunlight you can add one spell slot level to spells that have an At Higher levels line in them without expending the extra spell level. (Still max level of 9th level spell slots.)

Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the suggestion. I might make a change or two to the sunbeams, but they fit in better with the Sun theme than the idea I thought of. --HoneyScarab 4:04 30 April 2016

I love these ideas, but Still like to keep the plant theme of the circle of the sun. For the radiant stuff, it is getting very close a Cleric of Light domain, but druids in the sun still make sense. Maybe a whole new circle for Circle of Radiance is needed, if it isn't redundant, or combine both of them. I'd might to try some stuff. see what you think on the main page. --Quaz16 (talk) 07:41, 23 June 2017 (MDT)
