Talk:Bolas (5e Equipment)

I'd argue for this being a simple weapon, they're easily built, they're ancient and they're hunting tools. So they'd be easily found in the hands of commoners which seems to be the big prerequisite for "simple weapons" in 5e. Lemiel14n3 (talk) 22:30, 22 January 2015 (MST)

Although, this might not work as a weapon at all. Bolas might make more sense as adventuring gear. Since they're not really designed to inflict damage unless you miss. Lemiel14n3 (talk) 22:35, 22 January 2015 (MST)

It is similar in function to the net, which is a martial weapon. This source says that bolas have been known to break bones when thrown with force. The whole thing is an interesting read, there's a description of native Argentinians using them as a fencing weapon! Marasmusine (talk) 02:09, 23 January 2015 (MST)
