Formatting - 3/5: I give this a 3 out of 5 on formatting because it does not have enough links to the SRD, has no links to the class features from the table, does not have the full BAB progression listed (only top level BAB values are listed), and does not use Template:Quote. --Green Dragon 21:50, 24 February 2008 (MST)

Flavor - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because the concept is fantastic - take a Gnome artificer and stick him in a large suit of armour controlled by his will, make it a class. Brilliant anime-esque inspired stuff, but please finish it! --84.64.71.30 11:46, 11 May 2008 (MDT)

Whoo! Attention. Thank you, I've re-started work on it. -- Eiji 23:23, 12 May 2008 (MDT)
Perhaps an increase in a size category would be appropriate when the Autoplate is equipped? It would fit with the idea. You could balance it by spreading out the AC bonuses a bit more (eg, increase the AC by 1 every two levels as opposed to every level for the first four levels) and that way a 4th level base character won't automagically get a better than full-plate equivalent. I'm keen to see what you can put in upgrades and slots. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GeckoRipper (talkcontribs) 17:31, 17 May 2008. Please sign your posts.
Actually that was going to be one of the upgrades, for those who wanted more gundam and less power-suit. I didn't give it automatically, for flexibility. But I will take your idea about spreading out the AC bonuses. Time to work up the creative engine some more. Vroom! -- Eiji 14:34, 17 May 2008 (MDT)
Alright, since I have a little of it written down but not finished, this is where I'm going with it. The Upgrades are to be improvements to the suit itself... new materials like mithril, larger size, less ASF.... the slots are add ones that improve functions much like Warforged components. For the upgrades I see them almost like feat chains, so first you get your jump jets, then you get your flight, etc etc. They don't cost anything, but upgrades do consume gold.
I'm still working on the nature of the feat chains but I'm sure you can glean the general ideas from the titles. Suggestions are welcome. This should let players tailor themselves a suit that does a little of everything, or an air combat master of ranged weapons, or a melee tank, or whatever. Balancing this all will be tricky but it should be worth it. -- Eiji 17:21, 17 May 2008 (MDT)
I've changed the formatting to make the energy pool less confuseing.--Salasay 16:09, 20 April 2012 (MDT)

Okay, I've been doing a bit of toying around myself with some mechanics for Upgrades/Slots. I think we should try and get the ideas/mechanics done first, then worry about balance later.

I reckon the easiest Upgrade to work out is the Size Increase - just use the rules for the Enlarge Person spell (+2 Str, -2 Dex, increase in size category and therefore -1 penalty to attack rolls/AC), but it's a permanent addition to the autoplate, hence only affects the pilot when he's got it equipped. Imbue Material is a little more tricky - I'm not sure how you want to have adamantine/mithral affecting stats etc., but going from the Warforged feats seems like a good place to start. The Tracery feats in particular are good (Cold Iron, Silver, give +1 bonus Will/Fortitude save throws against spells). Adamantine could give the same effects as the Warforged equivalent feat (except giving instant +8 AC). Mithral could give a lower max AC (+5) in exchange for a much higher Dex bonus and lower armor check penalties, allowing effective ranged weapon use.

Slots are just plain difficult =[. I like the feat progression idea though - Jump boots -> Jump Jets -> Wings. So effects of Jump and Feather Fall spell -> Levitate spell effect -> Fly equivalent? I'm not sure about the other Upgrades/Slots though. I mean, would people really want to take Visor upgrades over flight abilities? Will have a think about some more options for slots, but I'll wait and see what you come up with for their rules first. --GeckoRipper 08:17, 18 May 2008 (MDT)

Added some more, adjusted number of slots (there's 5 total now), probably haven't updated text to match table yet, but tired. I wonder how it all looks. Right now, my biggest concern is how the energy point system works... in theory, short of taking upgrades to get things early, the spell-like and supernatural abilities are limited by amout of energy points in reserve. While it refreshes every round, some things, like flight, absorb 1 or more points a round leaving you with limited supply. Hopefully the goodies on Visors work well with the power of flight, or the other effects. Warforged feats though... best idea ever. It's turned into Wear a Warforged, the class -- Eiji 21:11, 18 May 2008 (MDT)
I've changed some of the text to match for ya, and added a couple of bits for the Warforged Uprgrades and Size Increase. --GeckoRipper 04:24, 19 May 2008 (MDT)
I think having both the persistant autoplate, upgrade, and the mindblank at the 20th level is too immense. If how ever he was to gain the mindblank a level or two before the 20th it would balance out--Aeros of Cupid 16:45, 11 October 2008 (MDT)
Noted, and altered, I find this acceptable. -- Eiji 20:18, 11 October 2008 (MDT)

I give this class a 5 out of 5 because it has everything i need for my next epic chariter

Size[edit]

Enlarge person is used mainly for temporary size increases. Because size is being increased by magic, the strength only goes up by 2, even though you get the full Dex penalty. I say the table used for increasing sizes of creatures should be used, maybe with a small amount of adjusting.

Old Size* New Size Str Dex Con Armor Attack
Fine Diminutive Same -2 Same Same -4
Diminutive Tiny +2 -2 Same Same -2
Tiny Small +4 -2 Same Same -1
Small Medium-size +4 -2 +2 Same -1
Medium-size Large +8 -2 +4 +2 -1
Large Huge +8 -2 +4 +3 -1
Huge Gargantuan +8 Same +4 +4 -2
Gargantuan Colossal +8 Same +4 +5 -4

Maybe have the strength +4 instead of +8? And no Con increase, either?--Drseymour

Rating[edit]

Power - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because It is a very versatile class. It can be a semi powerful mage type, it can be a fighter type with almost all the upgrades that the fighter gets with feats, and it can be an amazing skill monkey with its skill point bonuses. Although I do feel that some of the upgrades and slots are lacking a bit of power. I would suggest maybe adding some kinda of healing beam as part of the Eldritch beam tree with the same rules. Also the removal of the medium and small size of the predatory camo might make it a little more useful.

Wording - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because Everything was worded as if it came right out of a players handbook.

Formatting - 4/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because again it looks as though this class was copied right out of a players handbook. Although there really are not enough links to the SRD. I really enjoyed rolling up characters with this class as it was easy to deal with.

Flavor - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because this fits with any futuristic campaign, any Final Fantasy VI type campaign, and any type of campaign that has time travel in any shape or form.

Help available[edit]

Hey just to let you know if want someone to help vet grammar/spelling/wording problems I will volunteer for the job. It looks like you are pouring a lot of love into this article so I hope it becomes a FA article once complete and fully tightened up. Tivanir (talk) 10:43, 21 October 2013 (MDT)

I've found a feat that should be linked to, Extra Slot (3.5e Feat), there are probably others too. Marasmusine (talk) 01:10, 20 December 2013 (MST)

Balance - 3.5/5 I give this class a 4 out of 5 because The power growth seems a touch slow, especially as many powers must be improved to really take off. But the class already starts off rather powerful, which makes up for it, and the fact that outside the suit a pilot is not that strong also helps. All that said I haven't tested the class, so it's a bit up in the air. --147.4.215.69 22:06, 21 April 2014 (MDT)

Wording - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because It sounds like it could have come straight from a manuel. Nicely done. --147.4.215.69 22:06, 21 April 2014 (MDT)

Formatting - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because See above reason. --147.4.215.69 22:06, 21 April 2014 (MDT)

Flavor - 5/5 I give this class a 5 out of 5 because I'm a sucker for giant, pilotable robots, and this is well incorporated into a fantasy or future game. So many options, it makes me drool. --147.4.215.69 22:06, 21 April 2014 (MDT)

Slots, Upgrades[edit]

Since the formatting issue has been unresolved since June, and the components are still listed here, and my deletion proposal at Adamantine Body is uncontested, I am going to start deleting these additional slot/upgrade pages. If anyone still wants to keep them now is your chance to speak up. Marasmusine (talk) 03:13, 29 September 2016 (MDT)

Are you still gonna delete all those? I am hoping you do. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) - Guy (talk) 09:14, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

What do you want done with the formatting on the slots and upgrades chart? Can it by hyperlinked within the page? I.e. click upgrade name >> jump down to description and add a <back to chart> link?

Im not very familiar with this format/lanugage. NoNameNewGuy. 9/24/2017
