Just a heads up, if you don't add more description this rating will be invalidated. You need to say more than "incomplete" in order for a rating to count. --Badger 01:08, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Ew, why even bother rating it? I added the abandoned tag. JazzMan 01:18, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Abandoned[edit]

Ugh, I wondering if this is even worth bothering to try and adopt. I'm gonna try anyway. --Badger 01:25, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Hey if you can't fix it there's always the nice delete button... MUAHAHAHAHAHA :) JazzMan 03:00, 5 June 2010 (UTC)
Ok, so once again I'm going to ask for suggestions as to what would help improve this class. The direction I'm currently heading is drop the "animal" aspect, and go with just wolves. Lose the lycanthropy as a pre-req and give him something along the dragon disciple prestige class from the DMG. Thoughts?

Suggestions[edit]

You helped me out on my page with a suggestion, so I thought I would return the favor, oh, and I like this PrC idea in general.

  • Survival 12 ranks? That would force anybody wishing to take this PrC to be 9th level or higher, that seems a little high to me. You also only need a +9 to have 100% chance of making a survival check to get food and water, which I think would be the primary use of the skill for this PrC.
    • Is 12 ranks too high? Probably. My concern was making this PrC a little harder to get into. I adopted this class, and originally you could start taking this PrC at level 2. I upped the skill ranks dramatically. Perhaps too dramatically. Would you suggest 10 ranks to be more appropriate? You have to keep in mind that while the first few levels aren't very awesome, the back half can get pretty strong, and I don't want some 5th level getting access to stuff that should be out of reach.
      • Perhaps if you make this a 12 - 15 level PrC and decrease the 12 to 9 ranks (not only does 9 fit so you can't fail a basic survival check, but it makes sure you are level 6, which is a good turning point in terms of abilities and spells for most classes as well as being in the normal starting level range for a PrC) then that would clear up the problem. I know that by that point its almost a base class, and 15 is a little unorthodox, but that could keep the entry requirements down while making sure characters are of high enough level to use these abilities and not unbalance the game.
        • I come from the land of "The grass is always greener Rogue", where no decent prestige class starts before level 9, and the instant you take your first level of the PrC you regret not taking another level of Rogue. I think I might leave this as a 10 level PrC (no need to rock the boat) and just move Survival down to 9 ranks, while moving Handle Animal up to 9 ranks, while adding another pre-req feat, perhaps Dodge. Then you can get your first level of animal lord at 7.
  • For the Arcane Alpha Dog ability, it says you may choose three spells and cast them three times a day. First off, this is almost the equivalent of being a second level magic using class. Second, choosing 3/4 available spells is sort of limiting, perhaps reduce the spell number chosen or add more spells?
    • Again, the original class had these rules. As it was pretty much the only thing not horribly broken, I left it. If you want to suggest other spells to add to the list I'm more than willing to hear them. I'll run through the druid and ranger spell lists and see if anything else jumps out at me.
      • I think just the couple more you added gives enough options, but I'll go over the list myself and see if I find anything suiting, I'll get back to oyu tommorow on this when I have more time. :)
  • For the summon wolfkin ability, you may want to use a variable other than X, as X is a roman numeral and is used as part of the name of an actual spell, making this one look like the one listed in the PhB. Also, you say 'their ECL' are you referring to the summoned creature or the player?
    • I'll go ahead and change X to Z, and change "their" to "his". Hopefully that should clear up any confusion.
  • EL whatever: Uhhh, I think you have to add a sample character, just saying :P
    • Yes. yes I do. But I hate making NPCs so I've put that off, hoping no one would notice... I suppose someone has now...
  • There is far to little opening text, perhaps if you add a wall of text it would make it look nicer and easier to read? :P
    • You know, I know a guy who loves writing intro text. I'll see if I can't convince him to write a little something.
      • Lol, I'll try to keep it a little bit shorter this time. :)

Anyways, I know this class isn't finished so some of this stuff may still be coming. Hopefully my suggestions aren't completely useless. :) --Vrail 04:38, 8 June 2010 (UTC)

I went ahead and addressed each question by indenting once more with my answer. --Badger 04:50, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
I'll indent one more time for a couple :) --Vrail 05:11, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
Addressed your last concern. I think we'll figure it out eventually. I'm hesitant to go much lower, because 5th level of this gets you pretty much halfway to lycanthropy, without any drawbacks... --Badger 05:39, 8 June 2010 (UTC)
