Sylorin resemble beasts with bodies of plated armor, concealing their soft underbelly. Their heads have large ears and three eyes set in between. People have said their face resembles a canine or feline in instances, and they have sharp teeth. Their soft underbelly is translucent, allowing one to see their muscular system and innards within. They have powerful plated limbs and a thick tail for balance when they stand bipedally. In a way, they are like a canine crossed with a pangolin creature. Their bodies are usually hues of gold and brown.

History[edit]

Sylorin believe themselves to be descendants of large scaly beasts that have gone extinct. These creatures are analyzed to be shrunk down as a result of the evolutionary process as a result of becoming herbivores. They originally dwelt in jungles and forests, but competition pushed them to areas like savannahs and drier plains. Some have remarked their bodies resemble that of pangolins due to their plates. However, their other traits refute this theory. Their third eye is often thought to be some kind of sign of enlightenment, and tribes have worshiped them as sacred animals before. This is augmented by their intelligence, which is said to derive from their third eye and it has allowed them speech. As the lands around them secularized, sylorin have lost their status as such, but they now are working to transition into the civilizations as normal members.

Society[edit]

These creatures live in small families and are otherwise rather solitary. They stopped erecting villages due to better survival spreading out, rather than bunching together. Sylorin are usually always on the move within an area, and they are very hard working. They are extremely self-sufficient within their familial groups, able to make things like pottery and weave flax to trade. Their third eye is believed to give them the prescience of survival, along with a wisdom unique among beasts.

Sylorin Names[edit]

These creatures take simple names from the dialects of those who they have observed living in the plains.
