Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Some of the wording for the traits is non-standard to 5e (using expertise or conditional expertise, eg). Also, no race should give resistance to any of the 3 basic weapon damage types

Sugar Elemental[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Sugar elementals appear in many sizes and shapes, but in general they look like slightly taller humans with pastel colored skin. Their most significant physical traits though are sugary parts growing on their body. The type of sugar growing out of their body depends on their subrace. These differences originate from their regional and individual diet. Although some body parts may seem edible, these parts contain a special mixture of enzymes which will result in an abnormally sweet taste that will lead unavoidably to vomiting after consuming. This functions as a natural defense against predatorial fauna. Sugar elementals consume any kind of food which contains a sufficient amount of sugar. Their body only needs sugar to function properly.

The inner body of every Sugar Elemental contains thick, but sweet tasting blood and crystal clear bones which resemble glass. Skulls of Sugar Elementals were often used for rituals due to their outerworldy apperance. The body of a Sugar Elemental grows larger, when they consume more and more new types of sugary food. In most cases, their size never exceeds 6 feet but when an individual ventures for a long time, they can grow even further. They eventually return as tribe chiefs to their homelands and establish tribes of their own.

History[edit]

Where and when the first Sugar Elementals were created is unknown, but myths tell that there was once a human tribe which lived in a warm jungle. The tribe worshipped a certain god and celebrated this god with rigorous ceremonies and countless sacrifices of sugary dishes. One day they created a statue of their god completely made out of candy and honey. Eventually, the tribe devoured the statue and this enraged their god, which finally resulted in the curse which led to their new form.

Myths aside, numerous Sugar Elementals live among other civilized tribes, although they stay in communities of their own. They are great merchants and chefs which are known around the world for their charming appearances an lovely personalities.

Society[edit]

Sugar Elementals live together as tribes but often venture out when they reach adulthood. Every tribe is ruled by a chief which is in most cases a female being, male chiefs are a rarity, but they occur.
