Stellepids (Stellas (feminine or group) or Stelleps (male) are also nicknames they get)

Physical Description/ Brief History Stellepids come in various sizes, shapes, and colors, but the common traits are their wings, antennae, and large bug-like eyes. However the species are usually split into two, and then sub races of each. All Stellepids are "Humanoid"

Monarchs. More akin to the common butterfly and standing taller than their moth counter parts. They are usually more slender and sleek with smooth chitin skin. The Monarchs usually make cities and take up roles of power.

Emperors. The moths of the two. Smaller, fluffier, and more commonly magic touched. Emperors are the explorers, nomads, and usually take up trading as jobs. They often build transportation as well and are the reason you see them other than their home planet.

Monarch Traits:

Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 2.

Age: The average lifespan of a Stellepid is roughly around 80 years. As they progress through life, the colors of their coat and wings slowly begin to fade but not completely, just leaving hints of the color that was their before.

Size: Once they reach adulthood they can grow up to be around 6 feet. Your size is Medium.

Speed. You have a base walking speed of 30 feet.

Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light.

Stellepid Flight: These creatures have large soft wings that extend out from their backs. Due to their size, these wings are not extremely useful. You have a limited flying speed of 20 feet (hover), but you cannot fly higher than 20 feet. However you lose the ability to fly if you are wet.

Antennae Senses: You are proficient with Perception rolls that rely on smell.

Languages: You can understand and speak Common, and Sylvan

Subrace: You have the option of four Monarch subraces. True Monarch, Pipevine, Metalmark, Buckeye

Monarch Subraces

True Monarch: The True Monarch's are typically reside at the higher ends of their societies as entertainers, spokespeople, or politicians. They sport beautiful black and orange wings with white spots that sprinkle on the edge of their wings

ASI: Cha +1

Proficiencies: Natural gift of gab is the Monarchs expertise. You gain proficiencies with Persuasion, Deception and are immune to being charmed.

Natural Entertainer: You gain two instrument proficiencies of your choice and also gain the "Inspiring Leader" feat as long as your Charisma has a positive mod score and you are not suffering from exhaustion.

Pipevine: Pipevine Monarchs usually build their cities under or near water. Making great swimmers and performers as well. They are black or dark purple and blue with yellow and white spots that follow the edge of their wings.

ASI: Dex +1

Proficiencies: One with water and in total control of their bodies. You are proficient in Acrobatics and Athletics.

Mobile: While wet you only have a fly speed of 10ft, and can only go 10ft high. You also gain a swimming speed of 20 ft. You can also hold your breath under water for 10 minutes.

Aquatic Linguist: You gain "Speak with Animals" as a ritual spell that you can use once a day before needing a long rest. And yes, you can talk to all animals, not just sea life.

Metalmark: Metalmark Monarchs are built tough and usually handle the jobs needing a stronger hand. The coats of Metalmarks are usually shiny browns and oranges with black spots. There have been Metalmarks with light blue metallic coats.

ASI: Str +1

Proficiencies: The strong body allows you to be proficient in three martial weapons, as well as shields, light, and medium armor.

Enhanced Defense: Your wings no longer function as proper wings and you cannot fly, however they do give you an AC +1 and you are resistant to Bludgeoning damage.

Buckeye: Buckeye Monarchs are the usual spellcasters of monarchs. However they usually keep to themselves, not out of a lack of trying, they just tend to unsettle others. Your coat is a deep purple and vibrant green along the edges that has "eyes" spotted on the wings.

ASI: Int +1

Proficiencies: Your magical upbringing makes you proficient in Arcana, and Nature.

Blindsense: You gain a 10ft Blindsense, however this is because you are partially blind. You can't see in bright light, you can only see in 90ft of dim and 120ft of darker light as if it were darkvision. However, because of this, you gain a pair of Sunset Goggles that make all bright light, dim light.

Magical Awakening: You have Magic Initiate as a free feat.

Emperor Traits:

ASI: Your Dexterity score increases by 2

Age: The average lifespan of a Stellipid is roughly around 80 years. As they progress through life, the colors of their coat and wings slowly begin to fade but not completely, just leaving hints of the color that was theirs before.

Speed. You have a base walking speed of 30 feet.

Size: Usually smaller than their Monarch cousins but it's not rare to see one of normal height, at adulthood they grow to be 3-4 feet tall or if medium, 5-6'10. They are Small or Medium humanoids.

Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light.

Stellepid Flight: These creatures have large soft wings that extend out from their backs. Due to their size, these wings are not extremely useful. You have a limited flying speed of 20 feet (hover), but you cannot fly higher than 20 feet. However you lose the ability to fly if you are wet.

Antennae Senses: You are proficient with Perception rolls that rely on smell.

Languages: You can understand and speak Common, and Sylvan

Subrace: You have the option of four Emperor Races. True Emperor, Rosy Maple, Snowfall, Stellari.

Emperor Subraces

True Emperor: The True Emperors are usually the fighters of the group, or survivalists. Their tough coats are deep reds, browns and oranges with an eyespot on each of their four wings.

ASI: Con +1

Proficiencies: Natural born survivors, they gain proficiencies in Nature and Survival.

Hardened wings: Taking a -10ft fly speed, the Emperors can harden their wings for 1 minute and become resistant to Bludgeoning, Slashing, and Piercing during that time. They can do this again after a long rest.

True Warriors: You gain "Fighting Initiate" as a free feat.

Rosy Maple: Rosy Maples are usually the actors or story tellers, most commonly they become bards, but they may become something else. Their primary color is a vibrant pink but their secondary color is as varied as they tend to be.

ASI: Cha +2 Dex -1

Proficiencies: These vibrant Emperors are proficient in Performance and Deception and are proficient in 1 instrument of their choice, including their voice for song.

Silver Tongued: When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one attack with an attempt to deceive one humanoid you can see within 30 feet of you that can see and hear you. Make a Charisma (Deception) check contested by the target's Wisdom (Insight) check. If your check succeeds, your movement doesn't provoke opportunity attacks from the target and your attack rolls against it have advantage; both benefits last until the end of your next turn or until you use this ability on a different target. If your check fails, the target can't be deceived by you in this way for 1 hour.

Bard Initiate: You gain Magic Initiate but must take a bard cantrip/1st level spell.

Snowfall: Snowfall Emperors tend to be the cold loners of society and usually take up dirty jobs, despite their snow white coat with small black rings.

ASI: Wis +1

Proficiencies: These hunters of the night get, stealth and sleight of hand as proficiencies.

Blinding Stealth: Twice a day before needing a long rest again, you have the ability as a reaction whenever failing a stealth check, you spread your wings wide, the rings that spot them begin to glow, resulting in a blinding flash that anyone who can see you must succeed a DC 15 Constitution Saving Throw or be blinded for two rounds. They can make this check again at the start of their turn. If they fail the Saving Throw, you get advantage to enter stealth once again, as your coat has turned black but slowly returns to white over a minute.

Quick Fingered: As a bonus action, you can make a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check to plant something on someone else, conceal an object on a creature, lift a purse, or take something from a pocket.

Stellari: The Stellari are Stellara's chosen. These space faring Emperors usually take up being explorers, adventurers, and nomads. They are usually black or white with deep purple and blue wings that often look like galaxies framed by dark gold veins.

ASI: Int +1

Proficiencies: These Magic inclined moths are proficient in Arcana and History.

Blessed Movement: Blessed by the goddess of movement, as a bonus action, you can magically teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Spaceborn: These Emperors can use their flying speed in space, and can hold their breath in space for 30 minutes.

What Goes Around: You gain proficiency with boomerangs if you didn't already have it. Boomerangs now deal 1d8 bludgeoning damage, instead of 1d4. Thrown boomerangs will now return to your hand even when they hit their target. Their range is now also 60ft/120ft.

Comes Around: At 5th Level you can charge your boomerang with a magical property that deals a bonus 1d6 acid, cold, fire, force, lightning, necrotic, poison, psychic, radiant, or thunder. You deal this damage a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

The Fallen: Fallen Stellepids are extremely rare. These only occur when Stellara forfeits her gifts to the Stellepids in question. Or so the rumor goes. Another rumor is this is what happens whenever Monarchs and Emperors breed together but no one is too certain.

ASI: STR +2

Age: Despite being fallen, they do live much longer than the rest of their species. Usually clocking in around 150 years.

Size: These are Medium humanoids, standing anywhere from 5ft to 7ft tall.

Darkvision: You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light.

Stellepid Flight: These creatures have large soft wings that extend out from their backs. Due to their size, these wings are not extremely useful. You have a limited flying speed of 20 feet, but you cannot fly higher than 20 feet. However you lose the ability to fly if you are wet.

Antennae Senses: You are proficient with Perception rolls that rely on smell.

Languages: You can understand and speak Common, and Sylvan

Subrace: You have the option of any of the eight subraces, however, your colors will always be black fur, and you stand out by your large red eyes. (If choosing Metalmark the ASI for that is +1 Con instead)
