Soul Gem
1st-level Conjuration
Casting time: 1 Bonus Action
Range: 120 feet
Components: V (you must say the type of gem you wish the soul to be captured in)
Duration: 10 minute


You choose a creature that you can see within range and mark it with dark energy, ensnaring the spiritual essence of their soul. When the creature dies while the spell is active, the creature's soul is captured in a gem that materializes and is magically affixed to anything on your person. The gem that materialized looks identical to a real gem in every way, only an investigate roll opposed to your spell DC revels that the gem has absolutely no monetary value and is just a exquisitely crafted dupe, however it does not revel that there is a soul in it. The soul gem also cannot be used as material in lieu of an real gem in casting a spell.

  • Note that only you can remove the gem, to others it is permanently affixed to that location and cannot be removed by either non-magical or magical means. The gem can be removed at anytime by you from whatever it is affixed to from without damaging the item it was magical bonded to, but it can be re-affixed to any location you chose and this is done by holding the gem over the original location for 5 seconds.

At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can capture one additional creatures soul for each slot level above 1st.
