Physical Description[edit]

Slowking are a bipedal, pink-colored pokemon with a pale yellow muzzle and scaled belly. Its arms end in hands consisting of a single clawed digit and a small clawless thumb, while it's short, stumpy legs end in feet possessing a single claw. Around its neck is a spiny ruff with alternating red and white stripes. The Shellder that adorns its head has a spiral shape with two horns near the base with a red gem embedded in its center. A long tail protrudes from its backside.

Interestingly, some Slowking have been observed to have darker, more purplish skin, with the Shellder's gem sharing this coloration. Even it's ruff changes color, having blue stripes instead of red.

History[edit]

While Slowpoke, who have been observed nearly everywhere, have always evolved due to being bitten by Shellder, these evolutions only occurred when the Shellder bit the Slowpoke's tail. Slowking, however, comes to be when a Shellder bites a Slowpoke's head, the toxins from which unlock a mysterious power that raises the Slowpoke's IQ to incredible heights, often comparable to award-winning scientists. The first time this phenomenon was witnessed was in the Johto region and seems to only happen to Slowpoke who wear a King's Rock, a rare stone that also was first discovered in Johto.

Legends tell of a Slowking on the island of Shamouti who aided a group of young pokemon trainers in freeing the three legendary birds, Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, from capture by an eccentric pokemon collector.

Society[edit]

Given how they are rarely found in the wild, Slowking don't really have their own society. They spend their days doing research to uncover the mysteries of the world, or, if they live on the tropical islands of Alola, engage in a battle of wits against the sage-like Oranguru. Sadly, if the Shellder is removed from its head, it forgets everything it has learned.
