Stub Logo.png This page is incomplete and/or lacking flavor. Reason: Oops, you didn't use the "add new feat" link at 5e Feats, so this page is missing the template and categories. So now someone needs to add the missing bits from 5e Feat Preload, or this needs deleting and recreating using the link.

Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Quite abuseable as written. Firstly, it allows repeated access to every common, uncommon, rare and very rare magic item. Secondly, even if the item is temporary, it might create permanent effects. Thirdly, magic item allocation is entirely the purview of the DM and shouldn't be placed in player control (magic items might be rarer or non-existent). The only way this could be balanced is to define exactly which items can be created.

You can help D&D Wiki by better balancing the mechanics of this page. When the mechanics have been changed so that this template is no longer applicable please remove this template. If you do not understand balance please leave comments on this page's talk page before making any edits.

Simulate Magic Item

Prerequisites: Proficiency in the tools needed to create the chosen item, ability to cast spells, and Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma 13 or higher.
You learned how to improvise magic items using your tools and mundane items.

  • Increase your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma by 1, to a maximum of 20.
  • You may build up to one temporary magic item every long rest you take. The magic imbued will last until you the next time you complete a long a rest, or for one hour after first being used. After this occurs, the item become mundane, and cannot be enchanted again using this ability for one week.
  • You spend 10 minutes to create the item, and consume a 4th level spell slot. You can create an amount of items equal to the chosen ability modifier.

A base item is required to create items this way. For example, to create a flying carpet, you need a carpet, etc. Legendary items cannot be created using this feat.

Items with charges, consume an extra level 1 slot for every two charges it will have, rounded down. For example, a wand with 3 charges would consume 1 additional spell slot.

Beginning at level 1, you may create common items; at level 3, you may create uncommon items; at level 6, you may create common items; at level 9, you may create very rare items.
