Scheherazade's Magic Lamp (5e Equipment)

Wondrous item, uncommon

A small lamp that's been encased in crystal with a small hinged panel to allow someone to access the flame to tend it. It can be mounted comfortably to a sash or belt and the magical flame does not produce any heat. It needs no oil and cannot be put out save by magical means.

On speaking the command word (Alqisas), this small lamp ignites, casting dim light for 20 feet. Speaking the word again will douse the flame.

While the lamp is lit, if someone begins to tell a story to an audience of at least one, the lamp will begin producing magical effects comparable to silent image and minor illusion, enhancing the tale being told. Simple stories might get shadows cast on the wall while more intense, detailed stories could see duels being fought before your eyes by illusory swordsmen, complete with the sound of blades clashing or the escape of a pair of lovers into the night sky on a magic carpet!

The effect fades either with the end of the story, if the storyteller loses their place in the story (taking a second to drink something or answer a question doesn't count), or if the audience loses interest. If the latter happens, the lamp will put itself out and not work for two nights.
