Once thought to be an elasmarian[1] like the dro'kel, the Houze Prairie sailback runnendrake (Dromaeodraco nakarensis "Running drake from Ni'Khar") has since been proven to be a thescelosaur[2] of Kairulen origin, as more of the fauna of the continent has been described and discovered in recent surveys. While on the eastern continent the niches left vacant by hadrosaurs after the Dynastic Extinction were filled generally by pachycephalosaurs,[3] there are thescelosaurs that still thrived in similar and smaller niches, although the sailback is the only representative of this clade in the Known World. The reason for this is thought to be their mobility compared to the more sedentary thescelosaurs: Sailback runnendrake dig simple burrows, though generally still deep enough that predators can't reach them once inside, but often wander far while foraging and these dens are generally only used for a few weeks before the thecelosaur moves on anyway. They are far from the fastest dinosaurs on the Houze Prairie, being slower than other true runnendrakes and young uktan, but make up for it in mobility, being quick to turn on their feet and difficult to catch.
