Rynogg[edit]

What I saw in those mountains were people. But they looked ... like a walking rainbow, shimmering like bubbles.

Physical Description[edit]

Rynoggs are humanoids that have special skin. This skin shimmers in many colors and changes based on mood or need. Usually, they settle on a single default color as their neutral point. Rynoggs have been known to be able to change their pigments to be like metal, able to reflect light. They can also camouflage or become invisible if need arises. Their eyes never change, however, and are unique in that they have many apparent rings. When they are feeling vibrant, the colors move across their bodies in dazzling arrays, similar to a cuttlefish.

History[edit]

Rynoggs are creatures born of a mythical substance by a deity who opposed humanoids, humans in particular. The deity made them of a human shape so they blended in better to humanoid societies. They were given the quality to appear any color, giving them the nickname "human chameleon." Rynoggs historically resided in mountains just short of civilization. Some would often sneak into neighboring villages and conduct espionage in secret. The village would then be demolished in a few days by a clan of rynoggs. There is a sinister theory that rynoggs are creatures bred for silent destruction of civilization. However, as they are difficult to spot, few would know how to accurately identify them.

Society[edit]

Rynoggs are brought up with an extreme fear of water, as they are usually inland creatures. Each rynogg is brought up with a mastery of a weapon, usually a rapier. Their society prides itself on military achievement and the young are taught battle from a young age. When they are considered ready, young rynoggs go on raids on nearby humanoid settlements. Success promotes their status in their society's eyes, as they believe it is fulfilment of their creator deity's bestowed duty onto them. Despite these beliefs, rynoggs are actually quite secular,

Rynogg Names[edit]

Rynoggs usually name their young after the things they see. Being out in the wild most of the time, rynoggs tend to be named after types of flower and trees.
