Ring, rare (requires attunement by a paladin)

While attuned to this ring, you can perform a ritual that provides a conduit for divine energy to reside within the ring, creating a spell slot of a level no higher than 5th level. The ritual takes 1 hour and requires 25 gp worths of rare herbs and oil for each level of spell slot, which should be no higher than level for which you have spell slots. At the conclusion of the ritual, you must succeed on a DC 15 Charisma (Performance) check. At a successful check, the spell slot is created and infused within the ring. This ritual cannot be completed over the course of a short rest, but may be completed as a part of light activities during the long rest.

When you use your Divine Smite feature while wearing this ring, you can evoke the deity's name and expend the spell slot infused within the ring, instead of your own spell slot.

Alternately, when you cast one of the following paladin spells while wearing this ring, you can expend the spell slot infused within the ring, instead of your own spell slot:

The spell slot infused within the ring cannot be expended for uses other than the two listed above. It lasts for 8 hours, after which it dissipates. The ring of smiting can have only one spell slot infused within it at a time.
