Photoid

A photoid is an Orboid who has become humanoid

Magical experiments, irreversible shapeshifting, or voluntary transformations, an orboid can sometimes assume a humanoid form. Some don't even call them "orboids" anymore, and they have a new name: "Photoid". A photoid is merely an orboid who has passed through a permanent transformation to become a humanoid version of its previous form. The new form resembles its orboid form, with the color, texture, and everything, but now shaped like a humanoid.

Creating a Photoid

This template can be applied to any orboid, including elemental and shadow ones, which is now called the base creature.

Size and Type

Changes to Medium. It loses it's size bonus to attack rolls and AC, as well as its Hide bonus, but can now carry as much as a human.

Speed

The photoid loses its fly speed, but its base land speed is increased to 30 ft.

Armor Class

The photoid loses AC as it increases in size and loses Dexterity

Attack

Spirit Saber (Ex): The photoid can no longer fire a light ray (or elemental ray or eldritch blast). Instead, as a swift action, it summons a spiritual weapon tied to itself. The weapon takes the form of a short sword, and the photoid is always proficient with it. This weapon deals identical damage to the light ray (or elemental ray or eldritch blast) of the base orboid. Only the photoid can wield this weapon, and losing its grip makes it disappear. If the photoid receives any improvement to its natural weapons, this improvement carries over its spirit saber. Furthermore, if a photoid takes levels in Monk, the saber becomes a special monk weapon. The spirit saber has the same HP and hardness of a regular short sword. If it breaks, the photoid cannot summon a new one for 2d4 minutes.

Full Attack

The photoid may use its Spirit Saber along with other attacks during a full attack action, or use the saber to perform all attacks.

Special Attacks

The photoid no longer has its light ray attack.

Special Qualities

The photoid loses its spherical shape and nurture qualities. It can now use regular equipment and eat as other living beings.

Abilities

+2 Dexterity, +2 Charisma, -2 Intelligence. These bonus replace the ones from the base creature.

Feats

The photoid loses any feat that had Spherical Shape or Nurture as a requirement. If it had weapon-specific feats for its ray, it can freely switch them to their Spirit Saber instead.

Environment

Less dependant of natural energy, photoids take advantage of their new form to venture into civilization, though some choose to remain with their peers

Organization

A photoid can be either with orboids in the forest, or trying to adjusting themselves to society; working, entertaining, adventuring, etc.

Challenge Rating

+0

Alignment

Photoids inherent the good nature of their past form, but depending in how they influenced by civilization, they may incline themselves towards neutrality

Advancement

By class levels

Level Adjustment

Remains the same as the base creature, +1.
