Path of Song[edit]

Ongakugan – The Eye of Soul and Song

A rare Dōjutsu shaped like a glowing music note in the eye. It resonates with the user’s chakra to sing melodies that heal, empower, and reveal the truth within others.

Soulful Melody[edit]

At 3rd level, you awaken your Ongakugan, granting you insight into intent and a rhythmic aura of protection and restoration. As a bonus action, you may activate your Ongakugan. While active:

  • Gain +2 to AC.
  • At the start of each turn, you heal 2d4 hit points.
  • You can see into the soul of any creature within 60 feet that you can see, instantly learning whether their intent is hostile, neutral, or friendly.

This ability costs 1 chakra per turn to maintain.

Harmonic Blast[edit]

At 7th level, your voice becomes a weapon, carrying your chakra in waves of resonant sound. You may now cast any jutsu with a vocal component through singing, allowing you to perform jutsu without hand signs and while grappled, silenced magically, or restrained (unless physically muted).

Uplifting Chorus[edit]

At 10th level, your song can empower allies or restore their chakra flow. As a bonus action, sing to one creature (including yourself) within 60 feet. They choose one of the following:

  • Gain advantage on any one roll of their choice made before the end of their next turn.
  • Regain 2d4 chakra.

Resonant Soul Mastery[edit]

At 15th level, your Ongakugan has harmonized completely with your body. Your Ongakugan now costs 0 chakra to maintain while active. In additon, when you use Uplifting Chorus, the target can now choose one:

  • Gain advantage on two rolls, or
  • Regain 4d4 chakra.

You gain a new jutsu:

Verse of Revelation

Cost: 12 chakra

As an action, choose one creature that can hear your song within 60 ft. They must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + Charisma mod). On a failure:

  • They are placed in a genjutsu-like trance for 1 minute (concentration).
  • While under this effect:
  • They are Charmed by you.
  • You may ask one question per round (as a free action) about their tactics, weaknesses, or intentions (e.g. “What are they most vulnerable to?” or “What are they planning to do next?”) and receive a brief, truthful impression.
  • They may repeat the save at the end of each of their turns to end the effect early.

Symphony of the Soul[edit]

Finally at 20th level, you become a living instrument of harmony, empowering allies and disarming enemies with the music of your chakra.

Cost: 30 chakra

As an action, you sing a powerful melody of pure chakra. All creatures within 60 feet that can hear you are affected:

Allies regain 6d8 hit points and regain 6d4 chakra.

Hostile creatures must succeed a Charisma saving throw (DC = 10 + proficiency + Charisma mod) or be Charmed and Silenced for 1 minute. They may repeat the save at the end of each of their turns.

Path of Song Unique Jutsu[edit]

Harmonic Blast

Cost: 8 chakra 

As an action, sing a focused blast of chakra-laced sound at a target within 60 feet that can hear you. The target must make a Constitution saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + Charisma mod). Failure: Takes 3d8 thunder damage and is deafened for 1 round. Success: Takes half damage

Verse of Revelation

Cost: 12 chakra

As an action, choose one creature that can hear your song within 60 ft. They must make a Wisdom saving throw (DC = 8 + proficiency + Charisma mod). On a failure: They are placed in a genjutsu-like trance for 1 minute (concentration). While under this effect: They are Charmed by you.  (1/long rest):chakra cost 30 As an action, you sing a powerful melody of pure chakra. All creatures within 60 feet that can hear you are affected:

Allies: Heal 6d8 hit points and regain 6d4 chakra. Enemies: Must succeed a Charisma saving throw (DC = 10 + proficiency + Charisma mod) or be Charmed and Silenced for 1 minute. They may repeat the save at the end of each of their turns.

Whisper of the Soul

Cost: 1 Chakra

A subtle hum lets you read the emotional pulse of a creature you can see. You learn their emotional state (hostile, passive, fearful, deceptive, etc.), and have advantage on Insight against them for 1 minute. If used outside combat, can pierce disguises created by genjutsu or transformation.

Crescendo Bloom

Cost: 7 Chakra

As your song swells, glowing chakra blossoms surround allies within 30 feet. Allies gain temporary HP equal to 1d6 + your proficiency bonus, and restore 1d4 chakra. If you’ve used another vocal jutsu this round, they also gain +1 to hit and saves for 1 round.

Melodic Lance

Cost: 5 Chakra

Fire a spear of focused sound at a target within 60 ft. Deals 3d6 thunder or psychic damage (your choice) and deafens them for 1 turn if they fail a Constitution save. If they are already deafened, damage is maximized.

Verse of Unraveling

Cost: 14 Chakra

Target one creature within 60 ft. Their active jutsu or concentration effect must make a Chakra Control save (DC = your Jutsu Save DC) or end immediately. If the effect is tied to a Kekkei Genkai or Dōjutsu, they also take 4d8 psychic damage on a failed save.


Serenity Pulse

Cost: 3 Chakra

A steady tone hums from your chest. You or an ally within 30 ft regains 2d4 HP and becomes immune to being frightened or charmed until the end of their next turn. Also grants +1 AC if Ongakugan is active.

Spirit Fugue

Cost: 11 Chakra

Weave a haunting melody that traps a creature in a rhythmic genjutsu targeted creature makes a Wisdom save or be affected for 1 minute. While under this effect: The target cannot take reactions. At the start of each turn, you learn their intended action. You may use a reaction once per round to impose disadvantage on that action. The creature can re attempt the saving throw at the beginning of each of its turns.

Silent Note Technique

Cost: 13 Chakra

A soundless vibration strikes a target within 120 ft. On a failed Wisdom save, they are incapacitated until they pass a wisdom saving throw, frozen by the weight of their thoughts. While Ongakugan is active, you may also glimpse a traumatic memory, granting you advantage on your next jutsu against them.

Pulse Thread Binding

Cost: 9 Chakra

Sing a continuous note that materializes into glowing threads of chakra. A creature within 60 feet must succeed a Strength or Dexterity saving throw (target’s choice) or become Restrained for 1 minute (creature remakes save at the end of every turn). While restrained, you may sense their heartbeat, giving you advantage on attacks against them.

Phantom Harmony

Cost: 4 Chakra

Create illusory echoes of your form through auditory dissonance. Until the end of your next turn, attacks against you have disadvantage. When you are missed, you may teleport 10 ft as a reaction. Ongakugan active: You generate two echoes, allowing two such teleports.

Chakra Aria

Cost: 8 Chakra

A brief, powerful tune that restores inner energy. You and up to three allies regain 2d4 chakra. You resist chakra-draining effects for 1 round.
