Fire Blood. Whenever the troll takes piercing or slashing damage from a creature within 5 feet of it, that creature takes 10 (3d6) fire damage.

Heat Aura. A creature that ends its turn within 10 feet of the troll takes 3 (1d6) fire damage. A creature also takes this damage if it moves within 10 feet of the troll for the first time on its turn.

Keen Smell. The troll has advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell.

Regeneration. The troll regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn. If the troll takes cold damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of the troll's next turn. The troll dies only if it starts its turn with 0 hit points and doesn't regenerate.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The troll makes three attacks: one with its bite and two with its claws.

Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) piercing damage.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d6 + 4) slashing damage plus 7 (2d6) fire damage.

Flame Spit (Recharge 5-6). The troll belches an orb of fire at a point it can see within 60 feet of it. Each creature in a 15-foot-radius sphere centered on that point must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 28 (8d6) fire damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.

The iconic regenerative trait of trolls makes them extremely susceptible to mutation. Esoteric diets, extreme environments, or magical energy can have a significant effect on a troll's anatomy and physiology.
Molten trolls can arise when a troll spends a good amount of its life in a hot environment near a source of lava, or if a troll had a near-death experience with fire or heat.
