Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Each subrace seems a bit overpowered. Silent Assassin is a must for rogues (ignoring Ferocious Precision). It's much less restrictive than Sneak Attack, and has a larger bonus. Orchid Mantis gets 3 total proficiencies (excluding class and backgroud.) Winged Mantis has less restrictive flying than fairies.

Mantis Kin[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

History[edit]

Mantis Kin come from the Feywild, being magical adapted versions of their smaller insect counterparts. As they generally keep to themselves in such small groups, there is no larger politics or history among their divided and scattered people.

Society[edit]

Mantis Kin live in small tight knit communities, usually no more than 100 people. They are a people of primitive traditions, the weakest among them rarely being supported, often cast out for the cause of strengthening the clan. Although they usually live in groups, mantis thrive on their own. Some mantis may abandon their clans for lives as hermits, trekking through the wilderness and living off the land by themselves.

All mantis kin have small wings, but only winged mantis have wings big and strong enough to enable flight. Winged mantis often live in treetop villages, and enjoy the benefits of flying to access places they can reach to stay away from lesser earthbound creatures. They are however far more primitive than other mantis, their clans living far from other civilizations and keeping to themselves.
