Mancore (Human Unicorn)[edit]

"So what are you again?"

"I'm a Mancore."

"A what?"

"A man unicorn."

"O, how exactly did that happen?"

"You probably don't want to know."

"Probably not."

Physical Description[edit]

Mancores are a proud majestic people that can be identified by their shimmering white or pinkish skin. Their hair is naturally long and wavy and comes in three different shades: white, gold, or a light purple. All male mancores have well-groomed beards that you can find on almost all male unicorns. Females tend to have longer hair braided in a careful fashion. Mancores are beautiful to look upon, with humanoid bodies of fit stature and handsome faces. The horn that sprouts from their head is a sight to behold, being able to shimmer with iridescent hues. How the horn looks varies from mancore to mancore. Their ears are elongated so they resemble that of a horse or elves. In place of feet, they have a pair of hooves and their ankles and shins are coverd in hair. Their legs are also bent as a horse is.

History[edit]

Unicorns are the celestials which have graced many a sylvan grove. It is said they could only be tamed by a maiden of the purest heart, goring anyone else with their horn. Sometimes a drunk druid will take the form of a similar equine beast to bypass its guard, and then they will copulate. The female in the relationship will then bear and give birth to a mancore, which has some celestial abilities of a unicorn, and the unpredictable potential of humanoids. They typically are raised by their mother and within her race's confines. They have been sought after as easier targets than actual unicorns. Their horns are made of the material alicorn, which is also what unicorns have. This is a prized material which can neutralize any poison. As such, mancores are used to fending for their lives and watching their own backs for greedy people.

Society[edit]

Mancores hate to feel alone, so they actively seek out other mancores or herds of unicorns to live with. Some even join druid circles. A mancore may settle for a village near nature that has a low crime rate. They usually are welcomed with open arms when they choose to do so, as unicorns have quite the reputation. However, they are wary of gift horses, as they are typically raised with the idea that people will hunt them. Because of their unicorn and druid heritage, they make great ambassadors between people and nature and have been known to settle disputes between kings and forest beings. Some kingdoms are known to recruit them for this specific reason. Mancores are capable of reproducing with other unicorns, not just mancores, and will often convene annually in the wild where they party, get drunk, and have babies.

Mancore Names[edit]

Unicorns get to choose their own names when they grow old enough to do so, though the name has to be approved by the herd elder. This tradition is also used on mancores, but it is normally the parents of the mancore who approve the name in place of the herd elder. Their names represent a part of nature that they like and there is no differentiation between genders when it comes to names.
