Oni[edit]

The face of a devil, the build of an ogre, and the mind of a fae... Who can hope to defeat such a tyrant?
—Orin, the lost

Physical Description[edit]

Standing about 5-9 feet tall, oni are usually well muscled with devil-like horns on their heads. Depending on their lineage, they can vary a lot. Blue kita oni have stub-like horns; square, blocky runes on their bodies; and huge yellow eyes with tiny, round pupils. They have white hair like red kita oni. However, red kita oni also have horns that often curve like goat horns and jagged scar-like runes, instead of blocks. They also have red eyes that shoot spectral flames when they use magic. White kita oni have curving, graceful runes that taper to a point, and short horns that curve upwards. Their eyes often have white glowing pupils and are pitch black otherwise. They have black hair.

History[edit]

Kita oni are created in a few different ways. They can be created when a mage summons a spirit oni and forces the soul into the body of a slave. if the ritual fails, the target dies and the spirit possesses another individual. These oni are rebellious and often would kill their masters, if not for special enchantments placed on them. They often are elite soldiers or commanders of armies. They also may be the offspring of an oni and a humanoid, like humans and elves. The third and least common origin is an oni fails to be properly reincarnated and returns only halfway reincarnated, one half remaining oni. They get their name from "arrival" in a foreign tongue. Kita oni is a grammatical abbreviation of "the ogre that arrived."

Attitudes and Beliefs[edit]

Because they are so rare, kita oni have no real society. If they did it would be one of the most powerful on earth, supposedly. Kita oni refuse to bow to any master, man, or God. They only are usually forced to obey by masters of their creation. They, therefore, have no religion. They only respect those who can best them in combat, and never challenge anyone who can best them (unless their skill or honor is brought to question). They are hostile to most other races, only tolerating themselves and true oni.

Kita Oni Names[edit]
