Kiriel's Heart (5e Equipment)

From D&D Wiki

Wondrous Item, artifact (requires attunement by a sorcerer)

In the beginning, magic wasn't wielded by mortals. The gift was reserved for fiends, celestials, gods and the mightiest of magical creatures like dragons. Until Kiriel.
Kiriel being the first to receive such power had the purest form of the magic. Her control of it was almost as good as those that gave it to her. But, others saw her as a curse. And an opportunity to get back at those who scheme in mortal lives. She was betrayed by her people. Locked up and experimented on. For decades she sat, as a specimen hoping for help. In a fit of chaos and rage, she unleashed power and energy none had seen. When neighboring city folk visited, all they found was a small, red, sphere object which appeared to contain a heart. The orb is said to bestow the original control over magic that Kiriel possessed.
Random Properties. The Kiriel's Heart has the following random properties:

  • 2 minor beneficial properties
  • 1 major beneficial property
  • 1 minor detrimental property

Might of Kiriel. Like Kiriel, the wielder of this item has more control over their magic. Whenever you roll a 1 after casting a sorcerer spell of 1st level or higher, you may make a Wisdom saving throw, DC= 8 + spell level, to ignore rolling on the Wild Magic Surge table.

Controlled Chaos. You may use your Tides of Chaos an additional time before requiring to complete a long rest.
Destroying the Kiriel's Heart. Kiriel's Heart can only be destroyed by a wish spell from a sorcerer. It is unknown what would happen to the caster for betraying Kiriel in such a way though.
