Physical Description[edit]

Small birds with blue wings and a mostly yellow body, have a long beak created for the purpose of catching careless fish. They have small claws that allow them to cling to many surfaces, mostly plant stems and boles.

History[edit]

Since always being a bird has not been easy, you could die even before being born, but growing near the rivers provided some security. Over time the birds were learning to hunt insects and discovered that fish also ate insects so they had a rival. One day a very powerful magician found a newborn and gave him the power to reason like a human, apart from granting him the knowledge he had and giving him the ability for all his descendants to inherit this ability. So this little baby realized that if instead of hunting insects they waited for the fish to hunt insects and they hunted those fish, they would get more food and on top of that they would have at their disposal all the insects that the fish did not eat. Little by little they created small cities in the trees on the banks of the rivers until one day the same magician appeared again and saw everything that that sickly little bird that he had enchanted had achieved. He was so proud that he decided to grant you the power of speech and eloquence. Thousands of years later, today, there are only a handful of kingfisher cities in the world, so they tend to stay hidden by mimicking the performance of their close relatives by pretending to be ordinary birds.

Society[edit]

Kingfishers unite in cities similar to humans, they vote for their rulers every 10 years in an assembly in which all adults regardless of sex are heard and have the right to vote, unless these adults want to destroy the city. If the inhabitants see fit, they will be able to change their ruler if the majority decides it in one of the assemblies that take place periodically, every week or every month. Some of these cities have advanced so much technologically that instead of hunting they have fish farms and have come to domesticate large animals such as bears, panthers, moose or tigers to protect them from danger and act as a main army in case of need. They are non-denominational societies, so they do not believe in any god, the only thing they believe in is the powers of the great magician, as they call him, the one who once gave them their gifts. Most kingfishers are dedicated to construction and technological research, so their cities are full of knowledge and great technological advances. If you ever trust an individual, this individual will enjoy great knowledge that they hide in their cities.
