Physical Description[edit]

A pack of Kangaskhan and their offspring

Kangaskhan are large, bipedal creatures that vaguely resemble kangaroos. They have a brown hide with several raised patches and a cream-colored belly. They have large, cream-colored ears, narrow, red eyes, and a short, rounded snout with two fangs in the back of their upper jaw. On top of their head is a thick, black plate. There are epaulette-like growths over their shoulders and a row of spikes down their back. They has three clawed digits on each hand and foot and a thick tail. On their belly is a pouch that contains a baby Kangaskhan. Unlike its parent, the baby is light purple and has smooth skin.

Shave reported sightings of Kangaskhan with a coloration similar to the child it carries: a light purple body with a greenish plate on their head.

History[edit]

Though they were first discovered in the southern savannahs and grasslands of Kanto, in an area commonly referred to as the Safari Zone, they can be found in many such areas. If a region has a so-called Safari Zone, you're more than likely going to find them there. They're also known to inhabit marshes like the Great Marsh in Sinnoh and, if desperate enough, sometimes dwell in caves.

The reason Kangaskhan tend to reside in such places is for protection, as the race is near extinction and Safari Zones are maintained by people and act as amusement and nature parks. The reason for their near extinction is blamed on poaching and isn't helped by the fact that Kangaskhan are a female only race. However, Kangaskhan are also somehow born with a baby in their pouch, though on some rare occasions a Kangaskhan will be born without a baby. These creatures are extremely protective of their child, but as long as you don't show any ill will, especially to their child, they can be very friendly and motherly. They are even known to "adopt" orphans, including human children. One famous case was a boy known as "The Kangaskhan Kid".

A Kangaskhans devotion to their child knows no bounds. If a Kangaskhan meets a hostile party, it will not back down and continue fighting to the bitter end no matter what all to protect its child. After three years of age, the child will leave the pouch and venture off on its own. This is the only time a Kangaskhan is known to cry, and will do so wildly.

Society[edit]

Kangaskhan tend to live solitary lives, focusing all of their energy on the care and well-being of their young, but will form packs when they can and help take care of each other's young. However, if one chooses to live in human society, their motherly nature will often steer them towards finding work dealing with children, such as daycare services and even pediatric assistants.

Kangaskhan Names[edit]

Kangaskhan, being a female exclusive race, often have feminine Common names. They sometimes like giving themselves familial titles, such as "Aunty" or "Momma".
