Hydeans mostly live in the secluded valleys of the world, in small groups that work together to survive. They try to keep their presence hidden from the bigger kingdoms. The "towns" are mostly separated into the different types of hydeans, but some go to the closest one or the one safest from anyone hunting them. The towns are ran differently from each other, but they all openly trade between each other.
Hydeans are humanoids who have been touched with a curse to house another being inside them.
Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 1.
Age. They mature at fifteen, and live to be around a hundred.
Alignment. Due to the curse on them, they tend to lean towards chaotic alignments.
Size. In their normal form, Hydeans can be from 5 feet to 7 feet tall, while their cursed forms can go up to 8 or 9 feet tall. You are considered Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Cursed Transformation. As an action, you can assume an appearance closer to that of your cursed nature. This transformation lasts for 1 minute, until you die or drop to 0 hit points, or until you revert to your normal appearance as an action. You gain benefits that depend on your shifter subrace, described below. Once you shift, you can’t do so again until you finish a long rest.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language of your choice.
Subrace. Hydeans have different curses put on them that differentiate their subraces. Choose either the demonic, lycanthrope, or angelic subrace.
Ability Score Increase. Your Strength score increases by 2.
Transformation Nature. When you use your cursed transformation, you gain a +2 bonus to your Armor Class for the duration of the transformation. Your movement speed also increases by 10 feet while you are transformed. While transformed, your unarmed strikes have an additional +2 to hit, and deal bludgeoning damage equal to 2d6 + your Strength modifier.
Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2.
Transformation Nature. When you use your cursed transformation, you gain a +1 bonus to your Armor Class for the duration of the transformation. Your movement speed also increases by 20 feet, and you are proficient in the Stealth skill checks while you are transformed. While transformed, you gain a snapping maw which you can make unarmed strikes with. If you hit with it, you deal piercing damage equal to 1d6 + your Strength modifier.
Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2.
Transformation Nature. When you use your cursed transformation, your movement speed increases by 15 feet. You can make two reactions instead of one while you are transformed. While transformed, you can expend a reaction when a creature within 10 feet of you takes damage, absorbing the damage into yourself instead.
