A howdah is a sturdy riding or fighting platform carried on the back of a Large or bigger creature such as an elephant or camel. Smaller versions are not unheard of, though, when used by halflings or other small races. Riders of a howdah are considered to be mounted on the creature carrying the howdah.

Variant (War)

When used for war, the howdah provides half cover, an elevated field of view, and a resting place for soldiers to store equipment.
