Horned Angel[edit]

Wings of the gods and Horns of the Demon. Though a dark and holy object, they are not to be trusted.

Horned Heads, Scarred Backs[edit]

The horned angels are humanoid in appearance. Those who manage to see these angels bathe notice a large magical symbol engraved on their backs. Dried blood and scars cover where their wings are concealed. Once they reveal their wings, the symbol glows and the wings grow out of the scars. Thes wings are usually either black, like the feathers of crows, or white like a swan. Fully stretched out, the wingspan can stretch from 10-15 feet out in each direction. The horned angels carry huge unique horns on their heads, Some angels engrave their horns with patterns and symbols. On their faces sometimes scales or feathers can form around the eyes and other parts of the body, especially around the arms. Their eyes are usually yellow, silver or blue. It is rare for a horned angel to have red eyes, but some have been seen.

Idle Fallen[edit]

Horned angels were used as the elite forces in the holy war thousands of years ago with war raging between heaven and hell. The angels' numbers grew thin and many stopped fighting in an endless war, weary. Their idleness was regarded as treachery and they fell out of favor of the gods, who sealed their wings. They were branded with horns to denote their inadequacy as loyal celestials. This feature, in particular, has made them seem affiliated with demonic forces. Falling to earth as fallen angels, they managed to muster enough power from their wings to survive the fall, though the effort to draw out what was sealed heavily scarred their backs. Adapting to the fallen life, they learned to slowly regain their strength and enhance what they had left. Eventually, the seal on their wings will break and they shall fly once more. Unlike the usual vengeful fallen angels, they are not as hellbent on returning to their origin to dole out vengeance.

Wandering Apostates[edit]

Horned angels spend their time in exile quite productively, usually wandering in groups that can resemble cults. Some try to corrupt religions and gain worship for themselves, slandering gods as cruel and unjust. Others just try to get by now that their mortality has begun. Many have a lack of sense in the justice department. A small crime, even in their own coven, may be met with harsh punishments due to their divine training. They may not believe what they do is bad. They are still seen as descendants from the heavens by many, and so they have quite the following. They are very misunderstood, usually associated with dark magic and even fiends. They retain their hatred against fiends, of course, and abhor the association. Those who worship them religiously believe them to be heralds of the end times, here to judge goodwill and deliver people from suffering. In truth, they are here of their own doing and volition.

Still Idle[edit]

Horned angels are generally quite mellow and even-tempered fellows. Survival for them is number one, and sealed wings don't make it much easier. Their ancestors were weary from war and banished due to their want to rest. Horned angels have some of this sentiment, acting rather languid or uncaring. This often ends up with them being very noncommital to anything. Many abandoned any hatred they had left for their deities and just focus on regaining their flight to make their lives easier. Some never let go of how they were made to be like stooges by their former masters. Despite their fallen status, they retain a shred of pride as celestials and would rather die than lose to a fiend.

Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Dark Wings. The seal on your back prevents you from adequately flying until you regain some power. For now, you can at least avoid plummeting to your doom. If you would take falling damage, you may expend a reaction to push the seal and draw on your latent wings. This appears as a dark burst of energy to cushion your fall. You take no falling damage, but you land prone. Starting 5th level, you gain a flying speed of 30 feet with the revival of your wings. To use this speed you can't be wearing medium or heavy armor.
New Radiance. You were abandoned by the gods, but not everyone knows that. You can play it off easily as the new god of the world with your appearance and such, scaring it up. You are proficient in the Religion and Intimidation skills.
Celestial Descended. Your creature type is humanoid and celestial. You are resistant against radiant damage.
Sound Mind. The material world doesn't have its hold on you completely. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.
