Wondrous item, common (requires attunement)

A helmet that typically shows the user's face, enchanted to allow the user to mask it in a veil of shadow. Typically worn as a fashion statement by adventurers who value their privacy.

Mask Appearance. While you wear this helmet, you can use a bonus action to activate or dispel the helmet's effects, covering your face in shadow. This counts as your face being unseen. If a creature uses its action to examine your face, the creature can see through the shadow by succeeding on an Intelligence (Investigation) check contested against your Charisma (Deception) check. If a creature sees through the shadow, the shadow becomes faint to the creature. The helmet's magic is suppressed for 10 minutes if targeted by dispel magic or similar magic.
