Half-Mimics are born from a mimic and any other humanoid race. They are normally various shades of brown or purple to black in color, with other less common colors being light grey, yellow and various shadows of green. They tend to have no hair and, If they have it, is very scarse and usually the same color as the skin. Their thin and fragile skin, that can be glossy or matte; is covered in a fetid, sticky mucus that protects it. They can have anywhere from 1-6 eyes while having no other additional external features. Half-Mimics are generally taller than average people, being 6-8 feet, but are much lighter due to lack of muscle mass. This lanky figure gives them much better flexibility. Unlike real treasure chests, there is nothing about the half-mimic that human beings find sexually attractive.

History[edit]

Half-Mimics have not been a long-lived race, with oldest reports being around a hundred years old, but some consider this more related to the discrimination they suffer, their persona usually being not of consideration or that they can be confused with regular mimics. Most people feel little to no prurient interest in treasure chests or mimics, and as such, they are very rare. They are not a proud race, being cast out time and time again, left to dwell at the bottom of society. They have managed to scrape by through their limited shape-shifting, blending in among the common folk and certain objects. This shape-shifting ability has kept them secret from most historians, but the ones who have shown themselves are known to be humble and kind, but a little off due to their solitary nature. Half-Mimics are generally more intelligent than normal, as their silent and lonely nature draws them towards libraries, abandoned dungeons and castles or other isolated places where they can distract themselves from reality. They are extremely sensitive about the fact that one of their parents had sex with a treasure chest.

Society[edit]

Half-Mimics are outcasts. They are the dirt beneath the feet of even the poorest of the poor. They can rarely find jobs, but when they do they work diligently to become masters in their craft, determined to be something other than the waste of space the rest of the world takes them for. They are rarely seen outside during the day and keep to the alleys at night. Half-Mimics generally do not have homes, instead living in abandoned sheds or sewers, preferably together if they can find each other. They sometimes hide taking forms of objects, but on difference with mimics they try to blend with the ambient and grab forms explorers will find less interesting but minor creatures will want to be around like broken crates, piles of rocks or dead flowers.

Those half-mimics that live next to settlements, in an attempt to fit, create what it is called a persona. They take a humanoid form as alike as possible to the humanoids next to them, dress clothes they can get to cover imperfections and create their own language pattern, but as this leaves them blinded they usually just use it to blend as beggars or the like.

Half-Mimic Names[edit]

Half-Mimics, much like purebred mimics, take their names from other races they encounter or inanimate objects.
