Growth Fruit[edit]

This berry hangs low on it's bush, smelling of sulfur and sewage, which deters most creatures. However, monsters are attracted to them, and they hold a special power. A creature who consumes the berry will feel dizzy and light headed, and must make a DC15 Constitution saving throw if they are of Large size or smaller. On success, all symptoms disappear shortly after consumption. On failure, immediately after consumption, the creature will begin to grow larger in small, sudden spurts. The creature will grow at a rate of 3 inches every minute, until it reaches a certain point. To determine this point, roll 1d6.

  • 1: The creature will grow will grow to 1.1 times it's size, gaining +1 Strength and 5 temporary hit points and suffers -1 Dexterity for the duration of the effect.
  • 2: The creature will grow to 1.25 times its size. +2 Strength, -2 Dexterity, 10 temporary hit points.
  • 3: The creature will grow to 1.5 times its size. +3 Strength, -3 Dexterity, 15 temporary hit points.
  • 4: The creature will grow to 2 times its size, increasing by 1 size category. +4 Strength, -4 Dexterity, 20 temporary hit points.
  • 5: The creature will grow to 4 times its size, increasing by 2 size categories. +5 Strength, -5 Dexterity, 30 temporary hit points.
  • 6: The creature will grow to 8 times its size, increasing by 3 size categories. +6 Strength, -6 Dexterity, 40 temporary hit points.

The ability score changes and temporary hit points take affect only after the growth process completes. The growth lasts for a number of hours equal to 1d6 plus the affected creature's Constitution modifier (minimum 1). After that, the creature will rapidly shrink back to its size, and is immune to the effect of the berries for 1d4 weeks. Sometimes, a berry will not return a creature to their exact original size. When a creature begins to shrink to it's original size, it must make a DC15 Constitution saving throw. On failure, they instead shrink to a height 3d4 inches differing from their original height. If the total of this roll is odd, this height is smaller. If the total roll was even, it is larger. This effect can be reverted using lesser restoration.
