Wondrous item, Legendary (major)

The gourd, also known as wu lou, is a tool created from a specifically shaped calabash. The name is supposed to mean "giver of life" and it has various auspicious associations. In particular, sages of certain mastery are able to use these gourds to seal evil away, be they demons, malicious spirits, or even rogue sages. The gourd conceals a mystically enclosed space that is specifically created to seal creatures away.

Seal Away. As an action, you point this gourd's narrow opening at a creature within 10 feet of you. The creature can make a DC20 Charisma saving throw, or willingly fail. If the creature is not a celestial, fiend, or undead, they automatically succeed this save. On a failed save, the creature is sucked into the gourd. This functions as if the creature were affected by the banishment spell, except that they are now trapped within the demiplane that is the gourd. They also remain incapacitated inside until they are either released or the gourd is broken. The gourd can only contain one creature at a time. To release a creature, use an action to un-stopper the gourd and simply say "release" to it. The released creature will appear in the closest space within 5 feet of the gourd.

Inside the Gourd: The gourd demiplane is described as a rather claustrophobic place, being only a circular room about 20 feet in diameter. It is dim and dark, save for a small light at the very top of the unreachable ceiling, believed to be the gourd opening. When the gourd is stoppered, there is no light. Flying creatures will find they can never reach the ceiling. The walls of this demiplane are also invulnerable and cannot be climbed.
