Gelida[edit]

The decedents of humans who ventured into the arctic wastes thousands of years ago, the Gelida are now just as frigid as the frozen landscape they call home. They live in towns and cities made of ice. Their personality is usually fairly stern and neutral, though they do usually have a good sense of humour, even if they rarely display it.

Physical Description[edit]

Gelida are humanoid, with bluish-white skin and angular features. Their eyes normally have white irises, but it is possible to have pale colours instead. They tend to appear emotionless.

History[edit]

Gelida were forced to move north as their homeland was invaded. They became acclimatised to the cold and continued to move further and further north until they reached the north pole. There, they settled, far away from invaders.

Society[edit]

Gelida come from far up north, where no vegetation grows, and ice is tough as stone. They live in cities and towns made from blocks of the hardened ice and use their innate ability for predigitation to light their cities and homes.

Gedlida use old Norse names and naming convention.

Male: Ake, Arvid, Birger, Bjarke, Calder, Carr, Nadir, Nanda

Female: Aaliyah, Abela, Bahar, Bai, Candence, Cairistiona, Naak Nadia

Lastnames:Agnarsson, Bergfalk, Borg, Engman, Lund, Olson, Strand, Vinter

Gelida Traits[edit]

All Gelida have a few common traits:

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2 and your Wisdom score increases by 1.
Age. Gelida mature slowly, typically entering adulthood at 30 and living up to 150 years.
Alignment. Gelida tend to be neutral in alignment, reflecting the bleakness of their homeland.
Size. Gelida stand between 4 and 5 feet tall and average about 200 pounds due to their density. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet. You aren't affected by snow or ice.
Tool proficiency. You gain proficiency with Mason’s tools, as most Geldian structures and objects are made from hardened ice.
Frozen Body. Your body is somewhere between flesh & blood and solid ice. You are immune to cold damage. However, since your body is more solid your flesh can shatter and melt, giving you a weakness to fire & bludgeoning.
Acclimatized to Cold. Since they live in extremely cold landscapes, Gelida don't get a disadvantage in cold or extremely cold environments.
Aided Survival. To help in surviving in their near-inhospitable homeland, Geldian have slowly made sure that all of their race are born with the ability to use the Prestidigitation cantrip up to 3 times. Uses are replenished after a long rest. Using Prestidigitation requires no material components.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Geldian. Geldian is full of harsh consonants.
