Fattiest Heart (5e Equipment)

Wondrous item, Very Rare (major)

The fattiest heart is a strange object that is pretty much a living, beating, human heart. However, it is covered in gruesome, snow-white fat, with saturated oils oozing out of its ventricles and aorta. It is bloody and realistic, as if you just ripped it out of a morbidly obese person's chest. If held, one can feel it fibrillating, with pulsating capillaries and cardiac muscle. The heart is a sort of cursed object, or considered to be so, living without a host in a sort of dormant state and causing misfortune. Once taken into the body of another, it has fatal consequences.

Crise Cardiaque. When the entire fattiest heart is consumed, the creature that ate it instantly gets a heart attack and dies. The creature's heart then becomes a fattiest heart, which can be extracted from the corpse for later use. Creatures with multiple hearts, or creatures like constructs and undead who do not have need for hearts, are immune to this effect and can consume the heart safely. Eating this heart will fulfill your calorie requirement for the rest of your life if you survive it. Otherwise, the heart must be removed from a dead body before using spells to resurrect the person who died of a heart attack or they will not revive.
