Faery[edit]

Magical creatures filled with wonder and whimsy. Many live in the feywilds more commonly the enchanted glade. However some are known to make their homes in forests or outside the wilds due to their fascination with the material plane. Faeries are considered guardians of magic and nature and even the guiding force of it as well as the seasons. Many tales depict Faeries applying morning dew on plants in the morning or painting the wings onto butterflies even cutting up ice placing them within the clouds to create snow.

Physical Description[edit]

Faeries are very elegant creatures. Some may look more insect like with bug features and wings. Others may closer resemble flora and look like humanoid plants. Some may even look like tiny winged humans.

History[edit]

Faeries span back to before history was even documented. Some legends tell of powerful Fae influencing moments in turning points of history. There are also legends of Fae stealing children and spreading all sorts of havoc and chaos. These are just rumors for now as none have been proven.

Society[edit]

Faeries usually live carefree lives within the feywilds with each other. All there are considered family and they all have a respect for their Queen Titania. Due to their whimsical nature however they love pranks and consider it in their culture as a sign of fraternity. This trait usually makes other races at odds with them as they don’t understand the Faeries customs and take offense or rage to their tricks and pranks. There are however evil outcast faeries who turned to the Queens corrupted sister the queen of air and darkness and join the unseelie court. Deals are also very important in Faery culture and almost every Faery no matter alignment always honors their deals.

Faery Names[edit]

In Faery culture names are believed to be powerful and as a result many form a fake name they give out to others to hide their true name. It is still debated by scholars if a Fae's true name is actually powerful or if its just their culture. Regardless Fae usually choose fake names by adopting the ones of local flora they have seen. While their true names are almost always unique and aren't like any other racial names.

Faery Traits[edit]

Magical creatures filled with wonder and whimsy.
Ability Score Increase. Your Wisdom score increases by 2 and your Dexterity score increases by 1.
Age. As beings of pure magic faeries don’t age like normal races do and are unaging, as a result a Faery cannot die from old age. It takes around 100 years for them to mature, however always retain their childlike sense of whimsy.
Alignment. Faeries are tricksters at heart and generally are of the chaotic alignment, most are either good or neutral and love to spread whimsy but there are tales there are evil fae who associate with the Queen of Air and Darkness and love to spread misery and snuff out joy.
Size. Faeries are generally around a foot tall and weigh almost nothing. Your size is Tiny.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 20 feet. You have fly speed is 30 feet but cannot ascend over 10 feet.
Darkvision. Living in the groves and forests have given Faeries heightened dark senses, you have superior vision in dark and dim condition. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Fey. Your creature type is considered a Fey.
Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed and magic can't put you to sleep.
Trance. Faeries don’t sleep. Instead they meditate deeply, remaining semi-conscious, for 4 hours a day. The Common word for this meditation is "trance". While meditating, you dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive after years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.
Child of Nature. You have proficiency in the nature and animal handling skill. Faeries can gain energy from local plants, sunlight or moonlight replacing the need for food and water. Faeries may still eat and may need to if there is no sources to gain energy from. In addition druids are allowed to teach you there secret language or you may bring it as the chosen language this race provides.
Fae Wings. Faeries have a pair of wings in which they may use to fly up to 10ft in the air. While flying they emit a glow imposing disadvantage on stealth checks midflight. The flight is counted as non-magical. If their wings are removed or damaged after a long rest they regrow. If you are more than 10 feet off the ground when you end your turn you will fall until you are within the 10 feet of the ground.
Faery Magick. As beings of innate magic you know the druid craft cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast Invisibility once, and it recharges after a long rest. When you reach 5th level, you can cast Fly once, and it recharges after a long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

  • If you have spell casting ability or pact magic you may instead expend both or one of your Faery Magick charges to add the spells to your prepared spells for the day.
  • These don’t count against your number of prepared or known spells and you may cast them with spell slots like a normal spell.
  • After a long rest once the faery magick charges are replenished you lose these spells from your prepared spells until you choose to add them again.

Shrink. You can touch an object meant for a medium or small creature and use your fae magic to shrink it so it’s appropriate for your size.
  • If a weapon is shrunk its damage die decreases by d3. ex Mace does 1d6 upon shrinking it deals 1d3.
  • You may only shrink 5 unowned objects at a time.
  • The limit doesn’t apply to objects you own and you may shrink an infinite amount in your possession.
  • If a weapon is shrunk the damage die decrease of d3 is the only damage reduction applied and other tiny weapon rules are negated ,also the weapons damage cannot go under 1. In addition if you become small or larger the d3 reduction is removed for the duration you and your weapon are that size.
  • Due to being able to shrink your possessions you don’t suffer the carry and lifting capacity limit penalty for being a tiny creature.
  • Upon reaching level 3,6,8 you may choose a weapon you’re proficient in and not receive the d3 damage reduction upon shrinking them.

Frail. due to being tiny you disadvantage on Strength checks and Strength saving throws. If you somehow become small sized or larger these disadvantages don’t apply for the duration you’re that size.
Iron Weakness. Iron hurts Faeries and they cannot wield or don anything made from pure iron. If a Faery touches iron it takes 1d6 fire damage initially and then reapplies after being in contact every 6 seconds (1 turn), it cannot reduce your hp below 1+(Your Level). This damage also applies to being struck by iron weapons(The fire damage happens before the weapon damage). If encased in a net of iron or some other iron encasement faeries get disadvantage on all rolls. If a faery ingests iron or has it engraved in their flesh after a long rest or 24 hours has passed it disappears.(Iron mixed with other metals doesn’t count as iron weakness as the iron within it get diluted)
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common ,Sylvan ,and one other language of your choice.
