Everlasting Child[edit]

"How old are you little one and what are you doing here in the woods?"

"Guess."

"I think you're 5 and got lost."

"No. I'm 459 and I'm currently hunting a half-gnome wereshark. Now pipe down and shoo before it realizes I'm onto it and tries to eat you for a midnight snack"

Everlasting Children are a race of magical creatures of various races who have stopped aging for unknown reasons.

Physical Description[edit]

Due to their unknown nature, an Everlasting Child could appear as any race and take on said race in appearance, but not in ability. Curiously, their hair and nails still grow, and can still gain and lose muscles and weight, and any other physical trait unrelated to age can change as normal, but the normal effects of aging and growing up would never be a thing that they would ever experience.

History[edit]

Cause of their unknown nature and case of being a rare phenomenon, rumors about these children are considered fairy tales at best and crazy conspiracy theories at worst. Their existence is a curiosity that most people don't know and those who know are very much unsure as to if they're even real or not. The few who have come to be recorded in history are not known as their own race however, but of the race that they took appearance, which is usually their parent's race.

Society[edit]

As children born of their parent's race, they would usually take the society of their own parents. Most children of this race would rarely meet up with their own, but thanks to their near immortal nature, a few have managed to meet with each other and congregate at certain times in history.

Names[edit]

Age. No child cares about the age it is going to die, an Everlasting Child even less so, because it can't die from old age.
Alignment. Like all children, you tend towards chaos or neutrality.
Size. Your size is determined by your parent race and when you stopped aging (Refer to the subrace section).

Childish Apperance. You look like a regular child of your parent race. Because of this, people who don't know you further won't take you very seriously, and eventually may not let you partake in tactical or political discussions. How intense this is depends on when you stopped aging, with the age you stopped growing affecting others' perceptions of you less the older it is, and your behavior towards others.
Never Aging. You have completely stopped aging and can no longer be aged up by any means.
Genetics. You take on one racial ability of your parent race
Languages. You learn Common and a language from your parent race.
Subrace. Your "Subrace" is the physical age at which you stopped aging.

Toddler[edit]

Ability Score Increase. Your Charisma score increases by 2.
Unharmable. When hostile creatures of a neutral or good alignment meet you, you may force them to make a Wisdom saving throw against your Charisma attribute. Should they fail, they are charmed by you and will not harm you. Every time you hurt a creature, those charmed by this ability that are able to see you can reroll this save. When hostile creatures of the aforementioned alignments cause you to drop to 0 HP, they must make a Wisdom saving throw DC 10. Should they fail, they are stricken with grief, the intensity of which may vary, as they believe they've killed an innocent child. You can only use this feature twice, regaining use after a short or long rest.
Threatless. Most humanoid creatures with a conscience will underestimate you. You gain advantage in rolling Persuasion to avoid being captured.
Size. Your size is one size smaller than that of your parent race.
