Eflint[edit]

What first walked the world and changed to become all were the eflint. At least, that's their story.

Physical Description[edit]

Eflint are medium-sized humanoids. Their skin is usually bluish while their ears are somewhat pointed like an elf, yet not so long and a bit oblong like a humans at the bottom. Depending on where the eflint wanders to mingle, they take on many traits of the locals. Some have orc-like bellies and others have teeth or tail of dragonborns. They are a bit like humanoid chameleons that way. Eflint have milky eyes with no visible irises or pupils and usually have white, pale hair. They are hairless everywhere but on their heads.

History[edit]

Eflint are credited as the "first race" in any of the very few manuscripts they are mentioned in, usually their own. There are a few around, but they are few in numbers as the rest have split off into the different races, usually taking on their features. There have been many other versions of eflint, which have mostly splintered and wandered into other races, such as a lycans, bears, lizardfolk, genasi, aasimar, etc. Most races are in consensus that eflint are more likely minor shapeshifters than some ancestral race and so omit them from their own manuscripts.

Eflint are the main reason for so many "primal" instincts in animals and people, according to their own writings. They started not knowing anything and having no goal, but as they grew, they learned. As they learned, they understood. They desired to shape their own destinies as others seemed to. Some eflint preferred the mountains, others the sea, but most the plains and forests. Over many generations, they learned to gather and to survive, while also evolving to suit what they needed to survive. After some time, some grew fur, others grew scales, and so forth. People today have never observed an eflint fully becoming that of another race, thus casting skepticism on their "first race" claim.

Society[edit]

Eflints originally organized in guilds all over the world, long ago when it was still very empty. There, they had a master whom they operated in hierarchy under. Races eventually appeared in droves and populated around them. Dissatisfaction grew rampant when eflint demanded representation and so they converted to a more democratic form of society, where they voted leaders and implemented a more varied social network of 'family' units. They are generally very civil in manner and reserved. Often, they find interest in other races but tend to shun the undead and constructs, as they are quite natural beings which eflints associate with. Apparently, their democratic model was so popular that travelers took the idea with them and proliferated it elsewhere, making other societies follow suit.
