Dragonturtleborn[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Dragonturtleborn are big humanoid creatures who have a mix of a turtle and a dragon head. Some of them have a Sahuagin-like fin on top of it. Their large turtle beak is strong enough to break bones, while their shell protects them from attacks. Their tail and webbed fingers grant them similar mobility to fish when they're underwater. The shell they carry around with them is heavy and has barb-like spikes, that are not sharp.

History[edit]

The past of the Dragonturtleborn is relatively unknown. We don't know if a dragon god or the Dragonturtles themselves were responsible for their creation, but what we know is that they inherited the best abilities of their maybe-ancestors. There aren't many of them that show themselves to any society that is not their own. Legends say that an ancient Dragonturtle ascended into godhood, but nobody knows how, and then created the Dragonturtleborns. There is however no proof for this legend, as there have been no sightings or contacts with this alleged god. A few Dragonturtleborn, along with other explorers formed a religious group that believes in this god who they refer to as "Leviathan" (if you want to be a cleric of Leviathan ask your DM if Leviathan could be a god in the world your playing in) and are constantly trying to find him.

There is also one Dragonturtleborn in history of notable importance. Her name was Itzal. She fought in many wars in which everytime her side won except in her last battle where she died fighting an iron golem from the enemys army (This part leaves her role open to you/your DM).

Society[edit]

Dragonturtleborn societies are not often seen by outsiders as they are hidden on islands and underwater far away from land. But we have information gathered by outsiders who stumbled upon a Dragonturtleborn city or village. From what we know they build most of their houses underwater and just have a few buildings on islands which are always nearby one of their cities. They are mostly very hospitable and treat guests with respect, but don't want them to stay long. They don't really have a hierarchy system. They decide most important choices in a meeting with every citizen of the town, as their societies are never big. Every member contributes their part to the town like hunting or gathering herbs. Most of them speak only Draconic and/or Aquan but the ones who live in other parts of the world often speak common.
