Dolvar[edit]

I used to think that a prosperous, well-ordered society was an inherently good one. The Dolvar disabused me of that notion.
—Tomazs Manglear, Manglear's Multiversal Codex

Hailing from a dark world of perpetual twilight, the Dolvar are pale, ruthless merchants, grifters and clerics who travel the multiverse in search of new opportunities to shamelessly exploit. Every world they visit is a potential new market. Every person they meet is a possible customer, convert, or mark.

Physical Description[edit]

Dolvar are slightly shorter and more slender than normal humans, with chalk-white or grey skin and hair in varying shades of black, white, or grey. Their eyes have pitch black sclera and irises of varying color ranging from solid black to blood red or tawny gold. Their odd color aside, their anatomy is nearly indistinguishable from humans, save that

History[edit]

Exactly where the Dolvar came from remains a mystery to most people. Presumably, the Dolvar themselves know, but they have been disinclined to share this with outsiders. The oldest records anyone has found on them hail from Vidran, a world where a race called the Vor managed to create an illusory moon to block out the sun. The first reports of encounters between the Dolvar and that world's inhabitants followed soon after. Whether the Dolvar arrived on that world at that time or if they'd always been there remains unclear, but as the other races pulled out of their settlements, fleeing from the depredations of the Vor, the Dolvar moved in, set up shop and began laying down new laws and order. For those left behind when those towns and cities were abandoned, the Dolvar seemed like a godsend. They really should have asked which god.

Society[edit]

Dolvar society is built largely around laws and contracts, as most Dolvar worship Taryos, the God of Iron Laws.

Dolvar Names[edit]

Like the rest of Dolvar language, Dolvar names consist of groups of one triptych rune per syllable, with each rune triptych beginning and ending with a consonant and having a vowel in the center. Most given names are two-syllable, while most family names are three-syllable. Traditionally, the third syllable in a Dolvar family name is missing either one or both consonants (for instance "Kostaric" or "Konmacni".)

Male: Narvos, Sorkam, Harban, Korlam
