Second Opinion?[edit]

Eiji 21:15, 4 June 2008 (MDT)[edit]

I'm going to use this thread as a catch-all thread for anyone who wants a second opinion on something. I'd like to hear your voices and opinions.

The Warforged Wand Sheathe, a component for them...

This item lets you store a wand in your arm and activate it. 4000g, very nice... but the wand cannot eject until spent.

Trying to get a feel for balance. How much more would you add if.... 1) You could eject your wand. 2) You could store multiple wands.

So far I have suggested "an additional 1000 for each additional wand and only 500 for being able to interchange them". This seems a little cheap but I am asking to see how on the money others think I am. What would you price such an item? Opinions welcome, and I will try to give advice on any things you'd like a second opinion on in return.

Handy haversack costs 2000 less, lets you hold any number of wands, and swapping is only a move action without AoO. Please explain why sheathe is better.

Touche. I forgot to add you can activate the wand with a thought, effectively giving you Silent/Still spell for it.

Wands use the spell trigger activation method, so casting a spell from a wand is usually a standard action that doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity.... To activate a wand, a character must hold it in hand...and point it in the general direction of the target or area. A wand may be used while grappling or while swallowed whole.

Emphasis mine. The only time when Silent+Still is needed is to escape from being bound. But really the wizard should have mastered teleport so it's a non-issue. Sometimes the old ways are the best.

Alright, I'm convinced. Yay for cheap upgrades! :D This toy's for me, but also being the DM, I didn't want to overpower my DMPC with cheap as free items. Mwa ha ha ha ha!
