Dapper Skull[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

A dapper skull is a skeleton with a fancy hat. Many dapper skulls were elegant, noble person clothing. They wear flashy jewelry to show off their status.

History[edit]

In ancient history, there was an undead god named Mictēcacihuātl. They were obsessed with fashion and wealth. The undead god was the first dapper skull. Mictēcacihuātl's followers work hard to full fill their god's desires. The constant focus on petty things led the undead god's fall. The only thing that is left of Mictēcacihuātl is paintings of them.

About a century ago, there was a town. Wealthy feigners invested into this town and brought their culture with them. Noble people of this town begin to throw away their old culture and replaced it with the feigner's culture. This caused a strain with rest of the town.

Jose Guadalupe Posada was town's gave keeper and necromancer. The town trusted him to use his necromancy for good. Posada dislike the going obsession with feigner's culture and goods. He could see that it will cause the town's down fall. He raised a noble women's skeleton from the grave. She died a plague that was effecting the town at that time. Posada have her the proper noble clothing and let her free into the town. She was called La Catrina by the town's folk. She quickly represent that the wealth and fashion does not matter when we died. Both the poor and the rich have skeletons inside them.

Over the century, dapper skulls like La Catrina inspired other necromancers and gods to create their own dapper skulls. In some places , they become very common and popular. When the Day of the Dead celebration started to become popular, it is to no one's surprise that the dapper skull join every celebration. people begin to represent the Day of the Dead with dapper skull. Town decorators use paintings and paper decorations to represent the dapper skull. Shop keepers sold dapper skull themed food and items. It really kicked off when noble people and normal people alike use make up to look like dapper skull to celebrate the Day of the Dead.

Society[edit]

Dapper skulls are often found at parties, noble circles, and the graveyard. Due to their well manners, they can find themselves getting along with people that hate the undead. They enjoy being with other people and gossip.

Dapper Skull Names[edit]

Dapper skulls tend to have elegant Mexican or Spain names

Male: Catrin, Lucas, Hugo, Martín, Daniel, and Pablo.

Female: Catrina, Lucía, Sofía, María, and Martina.

Dapper Skull Traits[edit]

Ability Score Increase. Increase one ability score by 2 and increase a different one by 1, or increase three different ability scores by 1. If you are replacing your race with this lineage, replace any Ability Score Increase you previously had with this.
Age. Chosen Undead are animated at there original age at the time of there death and cannot die from old age, as their ageing process is halted
Alignment. The chosen undeads alignment is determined by their alignment in life.
Size. You are Medium or Small. You choose the size when you gain this lineage.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
Undead Nature. You have escaped death, a fact represented by the following benefits:

  • You creature type is undead. As such, spells like cure wounds don't affect you, and you are immune to spells like crown of madness or dominate person because they specifically target humanoids.
  • Without any internal parts, you are unaffected by magic items that require to work by consuming it like healing potions.
  • You immune to disease and being poisoned, and you have immune to poison damage.
  • You have advantage on death saving throws.
  • You don’t need to eat, drink, or breathe.
  • You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You can finish a long rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in an inactive, motionless state, during which you retain consciousness.


No Muscle. Your lack of muscle makes you a bit weaker than others. You have disadvantage in Strength (Athletics) checks to lift and push objects.
Dandy Skeleton. Your well manners and elegance presence makes people hard to be upset with you. When you make a charisma ability check that uses a skill, you can roll a d4 immediately after seeing the number on the d20 and add the number on the d4 to the check. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and one other language that you and your DM agree is appropriate for the character. If you are replacing your race with this lineage, you retain any languages you had and gain no new languages.
Subrace. Satire, Undead Noble Person, or Face of the Day of the Dead

Satire[edit]

The most popular Dapper skull was a Satire on invasive culture spending through the noble folk. Why not make a satire on a satire? You are a noble ghost satire as a noble skeleton that is satire a noble living person.

Ghost in a Skelton Shell. There are many advantages of being a ghost, instead of a skeleton. You are filled with ectoplasm, giving you the ability to eat, drink, and more importantly use consumable items like healing potions
I am Defiantly a Noble Person. You become good at tricking people. You gain proficiency in deception
Repairable Body. The bones that make up you are purely cosmetic. You can replace bones, remove bones, and add bones without any negative side effects. If mending is cast on you, it can repair bones if the damage is not too extreme.

Undead Noble Person[edit]

The very first dapper skull was the undead god. Most people have forgotten, but not you. With your noble status and a bit of bribing, you got the undead god to give you a second chance to change this world.

Dark Magic. Dark Magic helps to keep your form. You have resistance to necrotic damage but vulnerable to radiant damage
Blessed by the Death God. When the Toll the Dead spell is cast on you by a friendly creature or yourself, it has the following alterations: If you have 0 hit points you become stable. As part of the casting of toll the dead the caster may expend any level of spell slot to cause you to regain a number of hit points equal to 1d6, plus their spellcasting ability modifier. For each level of the spell slot expended you regain an additional 1d6 hit points.
Chat with the Dead. Like many noble people you enjoy gossiping and no one has juicer gossip than the dead. You can cast Speak with Dead once per long rest. When you cast it this way, you may ignore the 10 days limit if you know the person well.

Face of the Day of the Dead[edit]

You have seen the dapper skulls in the Day of the Dead celebration. You always wanted to be one. When you died, someone granted that request.

Life of the Party. You filled with so much life that at the climax of a celebration, you become a living undead. As a reaction, you dance, sing, or play on instruments until the end of this turn. As long as you are celebrating this way, you gain the humanoid creature type and can be effected by spells that cannot target undead like cure wounds. You undead subtype is not removed while celebrating.
Dapper Skeleton. A noble woman or man knows their way on the dance floor. You gain proficiency in performance.
Party Animal. You have full control on how drunk you are. As an action, you may get tipsy, drunk, dead drunk, or slobber.
