Conscripts represent hastily conscripted troops. They are often not well trained and are typically used for fodder rather than anything else. In countries where civilians are expected to complete military training, conscripts might be a bit more advanced than in that of others. Regardless, these are normal farmers and even merchants pulled into the military due to a call by the state. In times with low military population, conscripts may be used in lieu of normal state-sanctioned forces in various roles, including even patrol duties and police. Some conscripts are split between melee and ranged varieties, making them focus on only one kind of weapon.
Because conscripts are usually just trained briefly, they differ from guards in terms of experience in many ways. They might be more prone to fleeing from danger and are not as battle-hardened. Killing and immense bloodshed might damage their mental state and scar them. They are also usually used as impromptu infantry and not trained with horses like a knight might be.
