Mage Hand Legerdemain. When the caligati casts mage hand, it can make the spectral hand invisible, and it can perform the following additional tasks with it:

  • The caligati can stow one object the hand is holding in a container worn or carried by another creature.
  • The caligati can retrieve an object in a container worn or carried by another creature.

The caligati can perform one of these tasks without being noticed by a creature if it succeeds on a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check contested by the creature's Wisdom (Perception) check.

Spellcasting. The caligati is a 1st-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 11, +3 to hit with spell attacks). The caligati has the following wizard spells prepared:

Cantrips (at will): infestation (there are living fleas on the caligati's body), mage hand, mind sliver
1st level (2 slots): catapult, distort value, silvery barbs

Sooner or later, the caligati were going to learn how to use magic. Their first steps apparently entailed asking the question, "How can I steal this, but better?" Not only are these caligati better at thievery, but they use some of the magic they have learned to manipulate their foes in battle. Abactors will often hide behind the frontline troops with the archers, doing pretty much the same thing as the archers, but magic. These caligati also think of themselves as better than any of the others, although they still take orders in combat from controllers.
