Bone Splinter[edit]

The conjurers grab around the table, chanting the dark words. One of them coughs, and the others have stricken fear in their eyes. The symbol starts glowing a dark lime, and a Bone Splinter rises from the middle. It stabs one of them through the middle, and the others stand in shock. He throws another against the wall and the third run against the wall, his hand freezing up. But the monster was too fast and breaks his hand against the wall, and then jumped out of the wall, making deep gurgling sounds.

Physical Description[edit]

Bone splinters are the result of foul sorcery gone awry. The tiny details of each bone splinter are unique, a by-product of the mistakes made in the black rituals undergone by mad necromancers. Regardless, all bone splinters somewhat conform to one single form: Bone splinters are bipedal, semi-humanoid creatures covered in bone-like spikes. Their faces are similar to a mix of a nautilus and a snail, with circular mouths surrounding by 5-20 small tentacles. They possess anywhere from 4-6 mollusk-like eyes. Any parts of their body that aren't covered in bony plates have a soft, slimy texture, and smell faintly of rotting flesh.

History[edit]

Occasionally, when the steps to conduct a necromantic ritual are performed recklessly, the dark magic involved extends its power into the Far Realm- and brings back a horrifying manifestation of the madness there. The resulting bone splinter is almost always hostile to its creators, killing any who are unfortunate enough to be present when the abomination is summoned. If it hasn't been put down, the creature relentlessly pursues those who manage to escape.

Society[edit]

Being the results of rather rare circumstances, bone splinters have developed no society of their own, and are almost mythical in the eyes of general society. What few bone splinters have existed have been looked down upon with near-universal fear and hatred. The bone splinters that live among other humanoids tend to try to stay out of sight and out of mind, often engaging in some form of illegal activity.
