Bestiary (Darenfell Supplement)

From D&D Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The beasts, monsters, and enemies of Darenfell, generally, are a dangerous bunch. Some created from the darkest motives imaginable, others from the most fiery pits of hell. Others still have descended from the heavens to deliver a reckoning-- or perhaps only to unleash their celestial wrath.

Beasts[edit]

Bear[edit]

The bears of Darenfell have adapted to stay in the likes of the Martelen Forest, and the Horncot Mountain range, with some smaller, more agile bears even staying in the Great Plains north of the Horncot.

Cave Bears[edit]

The cave bears of the Horncot Mountain range are hulking beasts with mounds of muscle and fur. The beasts are all but blind in the daylight, and nocturnal. Although torchlight and the such can aggravate it in it's natural habitat, will generally try to avoid people unless they are approaching its home.

Forest Bear[edit]

The bears of the forests generally pair off early in their lives and mate when they are matured. They tend to stick together and hunt as a small family unit of 2 - 5 bears. They are semi aggressive, and will attack if they are hungry or feel threatened.

Plains Bears[edit]

The bears of the plains are small, nimble, and extremely aggressive, if you are detected by them, prepare for a fight, or try to lose them. They attack with pack-like tactics, flanking and trying to separate groups of what they consider prey, and attempting to disable their means of escape.

Guardian Bear[edit]

The Gargantuan Bears that protect certain small villages East of the Divide. Many of the villages that have not been taken by the darkness are guarded by one of the mountains. There are 17 of them believed to inhabit the continent, 16 of which are East of the Divide.

The Lonely Guardian[edit]

The lone Guardian Bear that lives West of the Divide. Many who try to communicate with the bear can only grasp the simple idea that it is searching for something. Many believe that it is searching for its lost kin, but cannot cross the Divide. Others still believe it is searching for a place to call home. None know it's true intentions.

Crocodile[edit]

The Crocodile is a massive water dwelling reptile that has become the master of the surprise attack. They are large, and have powerful jaws with huge biting force, they often lie in the water, in wait of some unsuspecting creature to approach, before they lunge from the water, catching their prey off guard and most often drowning it before it ever has a chance to die from the wounds of its bite.
