Scales.png This page is of questionable balance. Reason: Disintegration ray is very strong at lower levels compared to something like magic missile, and it has no limits of use.

Beholder Spawn[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Beholder spawn look humanoid in their appearance except for the three eye-stalks emerging from the backs of their heads. Their skin may have a slightly purplish tinge but nothing that would catch anyone's attention. Another feature of the beholder is that they may have patches of scales on the back of their neck, the backs of their hands and the backs of their feet. They may also have purple or red eyes. Eyes that are uncommon in human society.

History[edit]

The Beholder Spawn have a long and strange history. Hundreds of years ago, a beholder would sometimes let one of its minions into a closer circle, a circle that the beholder puts some trust into. When this event occurs, a minion can feature in the beholders dreams. When it does, the incredible psychic abilities of the beholder can mutate it into something with a power that resembles a beholders eye rays. The minion grows eye stalks and then becomes a beholder spawn. Usually, the Beholder spawn is killed before it can do anything. But sometimes a beholder spawn can escape into the world, and their offspring creates more of the strange race. This is why they are so rare.

Society[edit]

In the rare case that a Beholder spawn will meet another of its kind, the two will usually set out looking for more Beholder Spawn. Once they have recruited enough people - which is highly unlikely - They will create a tribe to protect the uncommon race. This event has occurred only twice in known history. Some beholder spawn shun all other life and retreat into caves to practice the magic of their beholder parent. Others turn to a life of crime or become assassins, killing those that despise magic and all that wield it. They are hated by all around them, partly because of their heritage and partly because of the insane look in their eyes.

Beholder Spawn Names[edit]

Beholder Spawn most often keep the name they were born with, though sometimes they take on a more intimidating name.
