Yuan-Ti (Abomination)[edit]

Yuan-ti abominations are monstrous serpent-like creatures, almost completely snakelike except for a roughly humanoid torso. They typically serve as the highest caste of yuan-ti society.

Physical Description[edit]

With their almost completely serpentine form and vaguely humanoid arms able to use weapons and tools, abominations were the form of yuan-ti that most closely resembled the originally intended appearance of the yuan-ti race as envisioned by the serpent gods. Most stand—for lack of a better term—between 6' and 7' in height. They rarely wear clothing below the waist, as it's challenging to tailor outfits to their massive, snake-like bodies. Above the waist, however, they tend to wear extravagant clothing or armor befitting their station. Scale colors run the full gambit, and their serpentine eyes are usually some shade of yellow, green, or red.

Yuan-ti abominations tend to be highly-educated, relying more on their keen intellect rather than their intimidating physiques. Some do, however, take up a more martial view of leadership and train extensively in the art of war.

Society[edit]

Since most were amongst the most prestigious caste within yuan-ti society, abominations are often found as the the leaders of their cities or respective field, unless a yuan-ti anathema was present. Abominations are obligate carnivores and prefer eating warm-blooded creatures. Their favorite meals are birds, rodents, and demihumans, with elves being a particular delicacy.

Many abominations consider most demihumans repugnant and barely tolerate purebloods. Like all yuan-ti, abominations found the body odor of humans repulsive. However, those who have chosen (or been selected, as is much more often the case) to leave their enclaves and go out to learn more about the world have learned to tolerate these 'lesser' beings. Precious few have even grown to admire them, as they've come to realize the benefits of a more open, less slave-dependent society.

Abomination Names[edit]

All yuan-ti, abominations included, tend to have very nasally, hissed-out names with a heavy emphasis on the S sound, and which are extremely difficult for other races to pronounce. Those that leave their enclaves often adopt more 'angelicized' names that are easier on demihuman tongues, usually adopting the naming conventions of the local community in some way.
