Worshipped One[edit]

For one reason or another, a cult or religion worships you as some kind of deity or otherwise powerful being. Maybe the cult misinterpreted some facet of your being as divine, or maybe this position was of your own making.

Skill Proficiencies: Religion and one of the following: Deception, Intimidation, Persuasion.

Tool Proficiencies: One musical instrument.

Languages: Choose one of the following: Abyssal, Celestial or Infernal.

Equipment: A holy symbol representing yourself, a scroll describing your cult's religion, a trinket from one of your followers, a religious costume, and a pouch containing 20 gp.

'Divine' Domain[edit]

Your followers attribute a divine domain to you, much like a genuine deity. The domain they believe you control could depend on your actions, appearance, or some quality of the cult itself. Choose a divine domain from the cleric domain list or roll randomly on this table.

Suggested Characteristics[edit]

d8 Personality Trait
1 I have a powerful, imposing voice.
2 I expect others to refer to me as 'the prophesied one', 'your grace' or similar.
3 I enjoy only the finest food and wine.
4 I always have something wise to say.
5 For better or worse, I see myself as separate from mortals.
6 I'm quick to let people know who I am.
7 I always comfort those who need it.
8 I give things I don't need to my cult as 'relics'.
d6 Ideal
1 Responsibility. There are a lot of people who believe in me. I mustn't let them down. (Lawful)
2 Icon. I must epitomise my domain. (Chaotic)
3 Power. I can do whatever I want, because who's going to argue with this world's newest deity? (Evil)
4 Freedom. I don't want people following me; I just want to live freely. (Unaligned)
5 Conquest. The larger my cult grows, the more powerful I become. Therefore, I must convert as many as possible. (Chaotic)
6 Humanitarianism. I should use my position to improve the lives of others. (Good)
d6 Bond
1 My cult is searching for me. I don't want to know what'll happen if they find me.
2 I care deeply for my followers, and I'm adventuring so I can return to them a hero worth worshipping.
3 My parents started the cult because apparently my birth was prophesied.
4 The cult leader prophesied my coming. They force me to follow specific rules to make me the true prophesied one.
5 My cult did a few crimes in my name, and now I'm wanted by the local city watch.
6 It was probably a coincidence, but I apparently healed one of my followers. They now insist they owe me a life debt.
d6 Flaw
1 I'm practically a deity, so I can do no wrong.
2 I sometimes forget I'm not actually a deity.
3 I lie to others about who I am because I fear them learning I'm not that great.
4 I come off as spoiled because I'm used to my followers doing everything for me.
5 I refuse to let anyone help me because it reminds me too much of my followers.
6 I casually sass real deities because I think I'm one of them.
