Wisp[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

hylotl_by_6doug9-d701j4u.jpg
Hylotl by Astral-Requin

Very few wisps exist in the multiverse and all known wisps were created by The Corrector. Wisps are bits, fragments, or sometimes even whole souls that TC creates a body for. This body is smaller than an average human and much lighter. Their skin is pale, thin, and smooth, and their eyes are small and beady with black sclera. Wisps aren’t perfect humanoid replicas so they often have one or two abnormal bodily quirks such as free flowing hair or an incredibly long tongue. Each wisp has a wisp color, which is just the color of their wisp-like fiery soul. This color is reflected in their loose soul feature as well as in their fire spells and eyes.

Hylotl Traits[edit]

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Charisma score increases by 1.
Age. Wisps don’t age so they don’t have an age range. They don’t need to eat or drink but they do need to breathe. They also need to take long rests like everyone else.
Alignment. Wisps retain the alignment they had when they were a mortal.
Size. Wisps are between 4 and 5 feet tall and weigh between 50 and 100 pounds. Your size is Medium.
Speed. Your base walking speed is 35 feet.
Darkvision. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of your wisp color.
Loose Soul. A wisp’s soul is not completely compatible with its body, making it easy to displace portions of its soul. This bit of soul can be positively or negatively charged and requires you to expend some of your own life force to use it. You can expend any number of hit dice and an amount of your own HP up to the maximum roll of the hit dice spent to cause one of the following effects.
Things Come in Threes. You have a third eye in the middle of your forehead, which grant you profieciency in the Perception skill and advantage on Perception checks based on sight.
Hylotl Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the shortsword, trident and net.
Tangible Essence. You know the produce flame cantrip. Once you reach 3rd level, you can cast the faerie fire spell once with this trait as a 1st-level spell, and you regain the ability to cast it this way when you finish a long rest. The color of the flames from both of these spells are that of your wisp color. Constitution is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
Magical Life. You are proficient in the Arcana skill.
Languages. You can speak, read and write Celestial and any races you knew in your previous life.
